I just got a letter from my GP telling me to immediate retest my urine. I called and asked the receptionist for the test results and the pus cells are 399. Normal range is 50.
I'M FREAKING OUT.
Not only was this done by letter which I think is crappy, this is the 2nd retest. The first one they didn't give me a reason and said it was probably a mislabelled specimen.
My homebirth midwife is off until Saturday. I spoke to another and she was reassuring but brief research has shown this result to be sky high.
I gather it represents the white blood cells present and a very elevated number if those can't be good, right?
Has anyone else had this?
What does it mean?
As I mentioned, I'm FREAKING OUT.

Can you take a sample along to the GP and ask for t to be tested there and then? Don't worry about not having an official little tube I've taken pee to the doctor in a coke bottle befor Grin
If it was something to really panic abou they'd be asking you to attend the surger right away not just for another tes to be done.
Urine infections are very common in pregnancy and often clear up after a short course of antibiotics.

Thanks. I'm taking a sample in tomorrow morning. It needs to be sent off for testing.
I'm pissed off as I retested already at a hospital ante natal appt and they said that if I didn't get a call within 2 days then assume it was all fine. That was over 2 weeks ago. Then I get a letter tr

Sorry on my phone, fat fingers.
Then I get a letter (fucking 2nd class!) from my GP telling me to make an urgent appt.
why can't people just do their jobs properly?

I have had the same issue, though am in early pregnancy (9 weeks). I got fobbed off, only to end up at an out of hours GP who found a high amount of pus in my urine and diagnosed me with a water infection. Try not to panic, if you feel okay in yourself it's unlikely to have spread and that is what matters.

Thanks, sorry you've got it too. I'm 15 weeks.
The other worry I have is that this has now been dragging on, untreated for over a month. I'm very worried what impact it might've had on the baby.
I've felt like total shit for most of my pregnancy but just put it down to fatigue, morning sickness and pregnancy on top of p/t work and looking after a toddler. My last pregnancy was great. I'm thinking now that I could've been ill all this time. It's explain a lot.
