hi their for most off my pregnancy a had grade 4 pp in out hospital and at 35 weeks had scan it was 9mm from os so doctor hopefull would move further had scan this week at 38+1 and showed placenta 13mm from the os so iv automaticallybeen booked for csection next tues 29/10/2013 my question is my babys head is fully engaged and i have an anterior placenta which means my csec will be more complicated as they will have too cut through too ge too bby and as my baby is engaged isnt that a good sign that a vbirth is still possible and that csection would be more riskier giving that placenta is also anterior any advice or someone with similar experience would be great as really if can would like avoid csec thnks

We are the voices of doom Goo :)
Though i think its important for people to know how dangerous it can be as i was told nothing till i had a massive bleed at 32 weeks, even then it was played down a lot, till it became obvious my placenta was pretty unstable ! it finally gave out because i puked at 36+ weeks, the pressure of me being sick caused massive bleeding again !

danibear123 · 28/10/2013 13:53

hi their tinks + goofawks , yes safe delivery is the main thing i think a just got my hopes up thinking because it did move 9mm between 34-35 weeks then again last week at 38+1 was nearly 14mm from os and that has all been from a grade four A was at 34 weeks so thought they was some hope . a little update had crampytype period backache heavy legs etc and more off this milky peach tan color dishcharge so went triage having tightings 70/80 on toco machine but cant feel them so obviously are BH and got my pre op bloods done again etc . was very annoyed as the doc would not scan me again nor the consultant to check placenta saying it wouldnt hv moved giving that it did move 9mm at 34-35 so is possible made me look like idiot and very stupid a know chances are slim but they dont want too look also he is down low fully engaged and in full position ready to go which if placenta was in way a heard he wouldnt be able do so csection is tomorrow feel like am talking to walls that hospital.midwifes staff etc are very twofaced ui

hi all ,
I havr pp as well and am booked in for a c sec at 38+ 3 weeks. do you reckon this is a tad early? I wanted bubba to be in there as long as poss. I had partial placenta abruption too but latest scan says its fixed itself no longer detached Grin

I had a massive bleed, losing a litre of blood at 20 weeks then minor bleeds twice after that.

if anyone with pp had c sec after 38 weeks.i would love to know. really praying I don't bleed.before c sec dates, i have two under 5 yr olds at home who need mummy Shock Shock

GooFawkes · 30/10/2013 00:06

Dani congratulations

Southern belle, I had DD1 (now 6.5) at 37.5 weeks. The protocol then was 38 weeks, but I refused as that was my birthday. They offered 2 days rosier, but having been in hospital for so long I told them I wanted to be home for my birthday so she was 37+4.

With DD2 I had been so unstable for so long, that when they asked when I wanted her I went for 37 weeks, when they agreed with no negotiation I figured things were worse than I realised. Unfortunately things went pear shaped at 36 weeks and it was an EMCS at 36+1. (All was well, no special care or anything)

I understand the protocol now is 39 weeks as the extra cooking s better for baby. But with PP it is a juggling act between more time for the baby and more risk for you both

southernbelle79 · 30/10/2013 17:08

thanks Goo Fawkes..yes its tricky isnt it. I suppose theres not that much difference between 38+3 amd 39 weeks...my first was two weeks overdue (8.5lbs so well cooked!)

my second was breech so was elcs at 39 weeks (6.12 lbs), so this one will be the earliest bubba..bought a tiny baby outfit today as not expecting him or her to be more than 7 lbs!

glad everything turned.out ok for you. im just praying I don't end up. with a hysterectomy or worse Shock Shock

xxx

GooFawkes · 30/10/2013 21:05

I wouldn't bet too hard on a tiny one. DD1 was 37+4 and weighed 8lb 11oz! She was working on being 10lb, I was quite relieved she was a section Grin

Although she was heavy, she wasn't long so wore newborn the same as her elder brother did.

DD2 we had to go out and get some clothes on the day before the emcs (when the bleeding started and ddn't stop) as we had been working towards the following week with getting the stuff washed (directed by me remotely obviously). DH had to go back out the day of the section to buy tiny baby size.

GooFawkes · 30/10/2013 21:08

I forgot to answer the bit about the hysterectomy. I wrote on the consent form (both times) that they were ONLY to do one if it was a case of life and death and I told the surgeon I was serious when we talked pre-OP.

Regarding "or worse" remember that is why you are there. Keep your chin up.

southernbelle79 · 30/10/2013 22:00

thanks Goo Fawkes

its just when I asked my consultant what the worst case scenario was at my c section she said 'hysterectomy or death'.

scared the pants off me. but have been reassured by midwife that consultant shouldn't have said it like that .

as well as pp I also have 'av malformation' in my uterus - extra blood vessels which again mean I am more likely to bleed loads . I did post bout this before but not surprised there was not response as its extremely rare to have in uterus. my consultant has never dealt with it or seen it before so im not overly confident with her tbh.

sorry to go on! bottom line is they will have 4 units of blood ready so God willing all will be fine Grin Smile

ive just been brought into hosp, just had a big bleed at home, am 35 +5 weeks with praevia, am being monitored for 48 hrs. lost 300ml

baby seems ok thank God. been given steroids injection ... hope it waits til my planned c sec at 38+3 xx

GooFawkes · 01/11/2013 00:33

Belle, hope all goes OK.

It made me laugh with each of my DD's, I spent weeks trying not to bleed, the minute I had my section they were stabbing me with warfarin to prevent clots!

I got to 36+1 with DD2, everything was fine. You are nearly to term which is 37 weeks.

southernbelle79 · 02/11/2013 11:49

ended up having my baby!! at 35+6...heresy birth story

southernbelle79 · 02/11/2013 11:52

9pm in halloween night I just started bleeding. ..got to hospital. ..carried on so they decided baby had to be delivered. ..went into theatre at 4.30am under General Anaesthetic, baby born at 4.58am.. hubby did skin to skin....
op took 3 hours in total ..placenta was stuck to muscle so took them a while to take that away and to stop.bleeding....sent placenta away to be studied.
Lost 3-4 litres of blood and had 4 units transfused....
They're monitoring me at the moment, small.chance.if I.bleed too much that a hysterectomy may be needed but hopefully that won't happen

feel so blessed my baby girl weighed 6lbs which not bad considering and didn't need special care. has got Tepilise though ( club foot) maybe coz she was breech. paediatrician checking out later xx

danibear123 · 03/11/2013 05:17

Well done belle and glad you and baby r ok and opp went well enjoy ur baby:) x

GooFawkes · 03/11/2013 19:57

Belle, congratulations on your new arrival.

6lb looks tiny, but really is a good weight for the gestation.

Have they said how bad the talipes is? DD2 was a query for it on both feet, but one worse.

An older midwife told me to stroke the outside of her feet while feeding. So to start above the ankle bone and stroke straight down across the two ankle bones to the bottom of her foot. She should push back against it like a tickle. This was enough to correct the slight problem DD2 had, the doctor (young) did not seem to know about this stroking technique.

I hope it is not too serious.
