How different were your pregnancies?

Was horribly sick for 41 weeks with DS. Was really a sick, sick PG.
Now at about almost 7 weeks PG I have the odd waves of nausea, feel good if not quite tired this usually kicks in during the afternoon.

How different were your pregnancies and did you notice that they were different with different gender or did it make no difference?

Thanks.

Hi. Got one ds aged 3 and currently 34 weeks pregnant with dd. First pregnancy only thing I suffered with was heartburn. This time around I have got everything! Nausea in first 10 weeks, painful hips from around 16 weeks, piles (yes, PILES!) appeared at 30 weeks and general tiredness. Both are different sexes so yes, I say it makes a difference.

ChaCha · 04/07/2006 18:18

Very interesting and congratulations Sarahlou. I ws very ill with DS, makes me wonder...oh yes, and piles...something I only associated with the likes of MIL or nan...

My pregnancies have been pretty similar, almost symptomless apart from piling on the piles. If anything the second has been even easier as don't need to go to the loo in the middle of the night. First was a boy, so was convinced this one was too but scan says a girl so think this business of different pregnancies different genders doesn't always hold true.
PP
ps lest I sound smug about my easy breezy pregnancies, I had the worst birth

PollyParanoia · 05/07/2006 08:37

er, that should read 'piling on the pounds' rather than piles. Have been fortunately free of that partic preg ailment

Was very sick with DD for the first 4 months, felt great with DS, was very sick with this pregnancy and felt exactly the same as I did with DD, but at 20-week scan we spotted a willy. So I was very shocked but having said that we didn't look too closley although the sonographer did laugh when we noticed it. We will just wait and see!

sugarfree · 05/07/2006 09:32

Three boys and all pregnancies were totally different.Even the bump shape was different each time.
I think I've had every symptom going but different with each boy.
The heartburn with ds3 was by far the worst although the piles with ds1 weren't a bundle of laughs either.

Feistybird · 05/07/2006 09:34

both identical

Angeliz · 05/07/2006 09:36

Physically my pregnancies were quite similar.
No sickness but beleive me the heartburn makes up for it
Had 2 girls and am now expecting a boy and the only difference was i was sick once eatly on.

Psychologically though worlds apart.

Pregnancy 1 dominated my whole life.
Pregnancy 2 was an event.
Pregnancy 3 ,well i flicked quickly on a calander site and found out i only have 8 weeks to go and thought, Jeez i better get organised.
No time to be self indulgent anymore.

krabbiepatty · 05/07/2006 09:40

Much sicker and more heartburny in last pg - first two boys, third girl. Not usre if down to gender of babe or my age!

luckylady · 05/07/2006 16:06

First pregnancy , I felt great but had loads and loads of problems, (8 weeks in hoospital)

Second pg felt great but really tired.

Both times put on lots of weight. (5st with DD but long stay in hospital) and 3 stone with DS.

Both bumbsshapes were the same (as was the roundness elsewere!!!)

SoupDragon · 05/07/2006 16:11

My pregnancies were really all the same and I have 2 DSs and a DD. Slight differences were DS1 - put on over 4 stone and had glucose in wee, DS2 - put on 2.5 stone and had diet controlled gestational diabetes and DD put on 1.5 stone and had no glucose probs at all.

eidsvold · 05/07/2006 22:15

dd1 - sick inthe morning - fine for rest of the day, carried her around my tummy and just looked fatter rather than pregnant - she was 6lb 1/2 oz. Born 10 days early as my placenta had packed it in.

Dd2 - constant nausea - had to eat all the time to keep my blood sugar up - worse at the start but still sick at odd times through the pregnancy. Looked like I had swallowed a watermelon was all baby and all out front. She was born 10 days late and weighed 9lb 7 oz.

Felt fab both times in sptie of the sickness.

TooTicky · 05/07/2006 22:33

I had a different baby each time
Seriously, they got better and better on the whole, due to me doing lots of walking (between 3 and 5 miles a day last pregnancy).

LilacWine · 05/07/2006 22:37

DD: being sick for 3 months, lots of heartburn, 1 kidney infection, anemia

DS: no sickness, lots of heartburn, 2 kidney infections which were really painful, anemia

rbj949703 · 05/07/2006 22:38

DD1 just slight nausea, not enough to actually be sick.

DS - couldn't cook for first 3 mths, dh had to go to his mums or cook for himself. But when he, or anyone else cooked I had to make a mad dash for the loo.

DD2 - no sickness at all, in fact this pg was a breeze. I didn't know I was pg until I was nearly half way!

seven · 12/07/2006 10:49

very very different! DD1 no sickness, bump all the way round, ate loads of muffins no exercise, born 10 days early. DS2 sickness throughout, round football bump, lots of walking and looking after DD1 has kept weight gain to a min, 40+4 still not here, grrrrrr!

Identical - one girl, one boy.

Highlander · 12/07/2006 13:56

I'm having another boy and I'm surprised how similiar the pregnancies are. Both kicked at 17 weeks, B-H started at 20 weeks, sickness stopped at 10 weeks.

Only diff thing this time is DS2 to be is mostly transverse, smaller and the pregnancy is a heap more comfortable (DS1 was oblique).

fuzzyfelt · 12/07/2006 20:53

My pregnancies were quite different -
1st one - average nausea first 14 weeks, craved cake and choc, gained 3 stone, felt serene and beautiful! Thought it would be a girl, so did everyone else.

2nd one - very mild nausea for 40 weeks, craved crisps, marmite - anythings salty, gained 2 stone, felt crotchety and bad tempered. All thought it would be a boy.

Had 2 girls! So no I don't think the gender makes a difference to how different you feel in each preg.
