Husband has herpangina

Just came back from the doctor with my husband, who has herpangina. I asked the doc if this was a problem for me, at 9.4 weeks pregnant, and he says no. However the internet has the opposite opinion. Yes, I know, don't listen to Dr Google, but on this point there seems to be a consensus online that the Coxsackie virus can cause some serious issues in the first trimester. Does anyone have any experience of this or any suggestions - should I seek a second opinion?

No experience but if you are in any doubt then I would get a second opinion. It can't do any harm just asking someone. Even call nhs direct and see if they can advise you x

Looks like its whether it's strain A or B that's important, this link is quite reassuring that the hand, foot and mouth version (A) doesn't pose a risk.

talk to your midwife if you want more info, they should know more or be able to ask a consultant.

I called the midwife's office but wasn't allowed to speak to a midwife - the receptionist told me that if the doctor said it wasn't a problem then it wasn't a problem and that I should stay off the internet!

No idea if he has strain A or B but I have no symptoms and apparently there's no treatment of any kind even if I do, so I'll just have to cross my fingers.

If its hand, foot and mouth he has then it isnt a problem. Both my DH and DS had this earlier in my pregnancy and my doctor wasnt concerned about it. As it happened I never caught it- it's reasonably rare in adults I believe. Hellish to see them with it though, looked thoroughly miserable.

No, it's not the hand, foot and mouth version.
