Has anyone got any experience of having single sac twins?

I've just found out I'm having twins and was really happy and not really surprised as I had a hunch that I was carrying twins but the sonographer said I'd need two weekly scans which I thought was a bit excessive until I googled Monoamniotic twins, they also share the same placenta. It's frightened the life out of me. One website said they have a 50% survival rate and you might have to go into hospital from 32 weeks. I also appreciate the need for loads of scans as they seem to get tangled in each other's cords. The other disappointment is that they'll have to be delivered prematurely by cesarean section.

Has anyone gone through a single sac twin pregnancy? I'd like to hear your experiences good and bad.

I'm trying not to worry about it and will wait to speak to my midwife to get all the correct facts but any reassurance would be good!

I have nothing useful to offer, but wanted to bump this thread in case someone who can be useful comes along.

Thank you. After spending all yesterday trawling the net apparently the best time to see if there's two sacs is at 12 weeks and 16 weeks and I've got another scan scheduled for 16 weeks so will keep my fingers crossed that's it's a mis-diagnosis. But I've also discovered that there's absolutely nothing I can do if they are in the same sac so I'm not going to stress about it and make things worse!

My best friend had identical twins ( like Beetle, from a single embryo IVF transfer). It was unclear throughout the pregnancy whether there was one sac or two - one scan would say one thing and the next scan another!

It wasn't an easy pregnancy, but her boys are here and they are gorgeous. Her waters went at 31 weeks and she was then on bedrest with regular checks for infection until 35 weeks, when they were born by CS. She was regularly checked for TTTS and told there wasn't any, but when they were born one was white and one was purple, so there clearly was some! They spent a short time in NICU and are now very robust and lively toddlers.
