im 35 weeks on Wednesday and started maternity leave last Friday.
I am already going mad with boredom.
I have blitzed the house and packed my hospital bag.
oh,friends and family are full time workers so ive no company.
have no money to spend as son is on half term next week and as its our last school holiday alone before baby arrives ive promised him days out and treats.
I spent yesterday snoozing, watching tv and online and so far this morning its been more of the same'
I am rolled up on the sofa in a duvet watching phil spencer secret agent and as well as my brekkie I have already eaten a packet of crisps and a slice of chocolate cheesecake.
its only bloody ten fifteen!
somebody?
anybody????

How about doing some baking, or get a love film subscription and then you can catch up on some films?

Inglori0us · 22/10/2013 10:39

Films and biscuits.
Saying that I painted my kitchen the day after I started mat leave. You've only got a few days before half term. Just try to take it easy.
Can you cook some stuff for the freezer for after the baby comes?
I appreciate these suggestions are all a bit shit.

Inglori0us · 22/10/2013 10:39

Netflix. I watched Spooks for 3 days straight.

urtwistingmymelonman · 22/10/2013 10:44

lol inglorious.
actually I will be painting my hallway in a couple of weeks so that will keep me occupied.
but I don't want to bake as that will just encourage me to eat more.
cant believe im missing my job and my wages so much especially as I have been looking forward to giving up work for weeks now.
its mad.

I was the same. The day I stopped working I thought "what the fuck do I do now?"

urtwistingmymelonman · 22/10/2013 11:14

I also think when you work full time you have unrealistic expectations of what you could be doing.
I was thinking i'd be out lunching with friends or something but have only just realised that erm, actually they are all at work!
or that I could go swimming everyday but now I have the chance I actually just cant be arsed.

I did go swimming or aqua aerobics with the old crones but that was because it was my first baby and all my time was my own. And I was a gym bunny back in that other life.

urtwistingmymelonman · 22/10/2013 11:19

I think I may give swimming a go then.
ive managed to stay pretty slim but iive a feeling with all the eating and couch potatoness I may start to need it.

I've been off work for the last 7 weeks (signed off sick) and have got another 3 weeks off as a minimum - I am so, so, so, so bored!!! It got to the point where I was looking forward to doing the washing up just so I had something to do!! My mom came to visit me yesterday and bought me some jigsaw puzzles (bless her) so I have resorted to doing them now Grin

SpoonfulOfJam · 22/10/2013 12:40

That is exactly how I felt last week when I started mat leave.

I am desperate for this bloody rain to stop so I can go for a walk- try and encourage this baby to come out, and also do a bit of exercise. Run out of money for the month so can't go mooching around the shops.

I have completely filled my freezer. I hate cleaning and am unlikely to ever want to nest. Driving is pretty uncomfortable now (all my family are 40 ish minutes away and I cba to drive there anymore). I too am reluctant to bake, as it just means more to eat......although a chocolate sponge with a but of jam sounds pretty good right now.

I am filling my days with mumsnet, reading, naps and bouncing on my ball. I am actually quite enjoying the peace and quiet now- it didn't take me long really. I even had to force myself to get out the house on Sunday for a wedding reception.

Just waiting for labour to start now. (39 weeks today, but I suspect baby is going nowhere fast)

urtwistingmymelonman · 22/10/2013 13:42

writer I love jigsaws.never thought of that so will def be giving that one a go.
I also need to get a ball spoonful as little monkey is reluctant to get in the right position(alternating between transverse and oblique) so laying back and relaxing is the worst position for me to be in.

the school run is the highlight of my day at the moment and normally I hate it.lol

I'd be off for a swim and then come back and relax in the bath with a book and a cuppa I think if it were me.

Also, have you considered writing out Xmas card envelopes & putting stamps on? May sound crazy but good to get out of the way - I imagine you might not want to write the actual cards as you may have further news Grin but envelopes are a PITA

PinkParsnips · 22/10/2013 14:56

Oh I feel your pain!!!

I'm on my 3rd week of maternity leave now and am getting very bored and a bit grumpy!!

I have a couple of friends on maternity leave but driving is tricky now, my back's killing at the mo and even though I'm bored, the effort of getting ready to go out is too much!!

I'm spending this week doing my natal hypnotherapy cd, some online xmas pressie shopping and shopping for a nursing bra...if I can be bothered going out!!
