Worth calling the labour ward?

Hello, haven't posted on this board before!

Was having uti symptoms, pains and urgency to wee. Urine tested positive for protein, nitrates and lucozites (sp?) but today been told that there is no infected detected.

The pains are quite severe at times, more so in the last week or so. Lots of cramping at the bottom of my bump and stabbing pains elsewhere. Pressure on my vaginal area sometimes and feel a bit 'heady' sometimes.

I am 34 weeks. Worth a call to be monitored in the hospital?
TIA :)

I would say its worth being seen. I've had those same symptoms at 26 weeks, the midwife had called me in anyway due to wanting to double check my urine samples again. I got seen by a doctor, given prescriptions for various things and sent home :) But I think the pain I had, those that you are describing, definitely were of interest to the doctor and hence, although you're probably fine, it's best to get seen :)

I would go get checked. It's better to go and sit for a few hours at the hospital and be sent home with a clean bill of health than to not go and sit and worry or have something go wrong.

I went in last night because of headaches and blurred vision but everything was fine and was told to always ring them if I have any concerns. They would rather check you out and send you home than not do anything.

Thankyou. Just had a shower and will ring them in a minute :)

I would advise you to take a trip to the hospital, get yourself checked over and put your mind at rest.

How's it going OP? I hope the midwives have got you comfy and sorted and that you're alright.

Ems, we're allowed to be drama queens and you're certainly not alone in being one! Both my midwife aunt & dp think I am worry way too much :') But its all justified - after all we are the only ones with a genuine instinct of whats happening. Smile But good luck, let us know how it goes Smile

Thankyou all for your replies today!

I got back from the hospital about an hour ago, they monitored me but he is such a wriggler that it took ages to get a baseline (apparently!). All fine. No protein in urine now so bit confused as to why I am getting such bad cramps but guess it is all just getting ready there!

:o)
