Panicking over the wrong things with labor

Ok so this is utterly ridiculous and I'm only 13+4 but I'm terrified of giving birth!
Not because of pain or time etc, but over really silly things.
What if my lady garden is hideously overgrown?
What if I've gotten too enthusiastic with trimming as I can't see my foof and I look like a raw chicken?
What if I get caught outside somewhere and I haven't had time to wash?
Or my biggest fear, what if I poop?!?!

Argh!!!

Once you are in labour you won't care and the midwives have seen everything before.

However you can be organised and book a wax or whatever just before you are due. Maybe even go for some vagazzle if you want to impress Grin.

I was worried about the poop thing but I actually have no idea if I pooped with either of mine.

Aww I had all those fears with my first, trust me its normal, iv gave birth 4 times, untill the baby is on his/ her way out the mw don't look directly at it and your usually covered up for internals. Also I don't know if it's same everywhere but at our hospital all the labour suites have a bath so if your caught short you can get one thereSmile

Be calm, the midwives and doctors have seen it all before and they'll not remember your undercarriage (unless you've maybe gone a bit mad and dyed it blue!). Most women who empty their bowels in labour don't even know about it as its dealt with without fuss or mention. And you're going to be in labour for a while working up a sweat so I very much doubt not having a shower right before you get to the hospital is going to be noticeable. Just focus on the job a hand, and all the lovely drugs Grin

Sorry but your use of the words raw chicken made me shoot tea out my nose laughing!!

Also expecting my first but I keep telling myself the mantra I repeat in my head everytime I go for a smear test; they have seen weirder that yours! Works surprisingly well I find, lol

I second Geneticsbunny; in the event you won't give any of it a second thought (in a good way!)

Sammi1986 · 21/10/2013 00:04

So really, I just need all the drugs so I won't care! Yes raw chicken is not a sexy look :/

Sammi - you can have the drugs, but maybe first think about getting some antenatal classes Grin.

There is an interesting thread in the "Am I being unreasonable' forum about midwives and bikini lines during labour Grin

I'm too busy panicking about the pregnancy, let alone the labour - I'm sure the time will come though when the nerves set in.... Smile

One of my friends put it nicely for me - you leave your dignity at the door and pick it up on the way out. You don't remember a lot of the details anyway and I couldn't tell you if I pooped during labour either time.

I do remember announcing I needed to push on the antenatal ward and just stripping off my bottom half and getting on the bed. To be fair I was right and had him 3 minutes later! You just don't care by that point. :)

HorryIsUpduffed · 21/10/2013 11:07

The midwives will not care about any of that. You will only care if you have actual problems with body image (eg body dysmorphia, PTSD, etc).

You might feel like you are pooing when you are pushing because you use a lot of the same muscles. Doesn't mean you're splattering the midwife with slurry Grin
