Unknowingly eating undercooked meat

So I went to the in laws for lunch and had roast lamb which they like to eat pink. After telling them several times beforehand I can't eat pink meat (33 weeks pregnant) they reassured me it was well done when they gave it to me with gravy on already. Only halfway through eating it it was slightly pink I found and the gravy that was not particularly hot they told me had the meat juices mixed into it. Should I be worried about toxoplasmosis etc? Even if it was only slightly pink and didn't eat much? Annoyed as they then gave me a lecture on how modern ways of thinking are rubbish and they ate anything in their day etc etc.

I think it's beef that's the worrying one from a toxo point of view, but I could be wrong!!

I really wouldn't worry about it. I wouldn't think twice about eating pink lamb when pregnant (well done is a waste of good meat! Grin ), and I believe that at 33 weeks you're really past the dangerous times. Don't give it another thought.

I haven't thought twice about deliberately eating undercooked meat, let alone unknowingly!

Do not worry. If the meat had been in the oven long enough and got hot all the way through, even without browning, it was more than likely cooked enough to be safe, so the juices coming from it would be too.
I've been trying to eat meat that is well cooked most of the time but sometimes nothing quite hits the spot like a rare steak or nice red bit of hare. Fresh meat, good cooking hygiene and hot ovens will make it all ok.

Thank you all you've made me feel better about it Smile

Lamb and beef are whole muscle joints.
Unlike chicken, fish & minced products you don't get bacteria or parasites in the centre of those meats, only on the surface, so I really wouldn't worry if it was pink Smile
