Am I the only one looking forward to labour?

This will be DC2, with DD I had to be induced, stuck on the bed as she was moving too much for them to monitor if I was even sitting, drop turned up too high so contractions were was too close, pushing for over an hour to be told baby wasn't in the right position, prepped for a section only to be told to start pushing 5 min after the epidural...
Now surely that should put me off, but I'm actually really looking forward to this time. The problems I had with DD haven't happened this time so hopeful I won't have to be induced and can do it on my terms.
Whenever I tell someone in RL that actually, I'm quite looking forward to it, they look at me like I'm mad. So come on... Surely I'm
Not the only one?

Indith me too! I loved being pregnant and would love a shot at vaginal birth. Don't think I could cope with the baby part again though. :o

XMASBABY11 wow that sounds horrible, sorry it all went wrong for you and your having to resort to surgery xxx

I'm finding pregnancy exciting and am enjoying every minute, even the uncomfortable sleeping and constipation as it's all part of my body doing the thing it was designed to do.

I'm excited for labour too (it's my first).

Not really. Having a home birth with no pain relief or gas. I'm looking forward to it like you'd look forward to an exam or having a leg chopped off.

I've got the new series of Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey which I've held off watching until I'm in labour and bought some lovely Ugg slippers I'm not using until after as a treat/bribe though.

BummyMummy77 · 21/10/2013 19:00

Oh God. And my beautiful Son obviously. :S

(Can't believe I mentioned Ugg slippers and not ds. Horrible Mummy, bet I accidentally leave him in a supermarket or something too.)

Mrskays- I draw the line at enjoying the CONSTIPATION. now you, my friend, are indeed mad! Grin

Yep mrskays you are crazy! Grin

Constipation, heartburn, acid reflux, stiff sore pelvis, leaky boobs! None of this is enjoyable.

I'm actually a bit excited too. I've not done it before so I may well be taking my words back big style! I'm a bit of a long distance runner and I'm taking the same approach to labour as to race prep - may be bonkers but there are some similarities - mental stuff - sorting your head out when you get all "i can't do this", prep before - squats, breathing, yoga, positions, gym, swim etc to help body be ready, and finally the event - you hate it all the way through as it hurts so much but the relief! and joy and feeling of achievement and how proud you are of yourself after you have done it! :-) hope it is like that. I will prob end up having emerg c section or something and it all being rather traumatic but am hoping not.

I absolutely have to have an ELCS (a permanent stitch prevents any other way) and I am soooo envious of all you mothers who get to deliver, or at least attempt to deliver vaginally. I did with DC1 but I had a horrible midwife who made mistakes - I always wanted a do-over because I knew it could be much better than that. Alas my cervical issues (possibly caused in part by the crap midwife with DC1 who clearly would rather have been somewhere else..) meant I had c-sections with DC2/DC3 and now DC4.

I'm a homebirth fan and would have had one with DC1 had she not been a little bit too early so I had to go in.. now I will never get the chance. My consultant kindly offered me whale music and joss sticks in the operating theatre as an alternative Hmm Smile

So make the most of it everyone!! Grin

I wasn't allowed into Labour with my first and had a c-section. With my second I was excited about Labour. I was induced and hurt slot but I felt like wonder woman afterwards - I was so pleased that I didn't have to have a section. So I totally understand OP.
