Carpel Tunnel Syndrome?

I woke up this morning with half of my left hand numb. By about 2pm I had the feeling back in it again but I googles what it could be (as everything seems to be normal during pregnancy!) and found Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.
The only thing it is it seems to be the wrong side of my hand for that. They say it affects the thumb side and mine was the little finger side iyswim.
Having said that the numbness is now returning and I've developed a twitch/spasm in my thumb that I have to hold to stop it moving. Not just a pulse but actually jerking about.
Has anyone had Carpel Tunnel and does this sound like it could be it? I'm 12 weeks if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance!

Ugh, it's horrible! I'm on DC5, 18+3 weeks now and I've had it every time. It seems to have been increasingly worse with every pregnancy!
I haven't noticed one area in particular, it seems to affect any part or all of my hand. This pg it's around for longer, only in my right hand, and is actually sending pains up into my arm. It's painful and horrible and I've never been able to stop it happening. Midwives and GP all unable to advise me. Wiggling my fingers helps a bit, and holding my arm pointing downwards with my hand outstretched too.
Sorry I couldn't be more help!! Good luck.

Cupcake it sounds similar to something I have had for years. Is it your little finger and half of the finger next to it that go numb? And tingly arm up to elbow? If so it's similar to carpel tunnel but not quite its ulna nerve entrapment and happens when I have my arm bent for continuous periods of time such as when asleep or reading a book in bed. GP says nothing to worry about just try and keep arms straight when in bed and some web sites suggest splinting your arms but that's just impossible to maintain all night!
Annoying but I haven't found a cure as yet. Sorry HTH

Yes it's my little finger and my ring finger and all down that side of my hand and wrist but weirdly it's my thumb that's twitching.
It's really annoying as I couldn't text or type earlier because I couldn't control my thumb Confused
Sorry to hear you both are suffering but I'm glad it's not just me! Wink

When I had this in my first pregnancy I went to the physio and wore wrist braces when I went to bed which eased it. I seem to have it again this time so I am going to start wearing the braces again to see if it helps. Worth asking for a physio referral though.
