Whilst i was pregnant with DC2, I had a root canal and crown treatment because one of my fillings had failed and I had in infection. If the dentist says it's ok, I wouldn't worry! Good luck.

Having a filling whilst pregnant is totally safe. Have an injection, there's a type they can't use on pregnant women but the others will not harm you or your baby, and you'll be a lot more comfortable.

I had one this pgy. Dentist checked the drug, which was perfectly safe, and it was fine.

Good luck.

I also had a root canal and crown with DC1. I had to be numbed for that as he couldn't touch it without going through the roof otherwise. It was absolutely fine and dentist assured me it was safe. It certainly had no ill effects on DS who is now a very loud and active 3 year old. Try not to worry if you do need to have the jab and good luck.

Had a filling yesterday with injection, no pain at all and perfectly safe, however, spending an hour on my back was almost unbearable! I was tipped back really far and heartburn was so awful I thought I was going to vomit. Dentist was lovely but I don't think he understood about special precautions for pregnancy. I have had a locked jaw in this pregnancy and consultant told me I wasn't to open my mouth to wide but dentist clearly wasn't bothered about that either. I'm supposed to go back for another but going to wait til baby is out! I guess it depends how pregnant you are.

I am a dentistry wimp and had lots of injections during my crown. The dentist assured me that I wouldn't feel a thing after three previous root canal treatments on that tooth and no nerves left. So I gave it a go and on the first drill, really felt like I experienced pain and my hand involuntarily shot up and hit my poor dentist in the face. It was very embarrassing and I know now that I will never again venture into any procedure sans anaesthetic!!

My dentist didn't want to give me an injection in the first trimester - but he is quite a hippy sort Grin He said he would if I insisted, but given I wasn't in pain, I may as well wait until later on. Which is fine by me as it hasn't been bothering me (it was only an issue spotted on an x-ray done some weeks earlier)

It is pretty much safe especially if they use particular ones that are considered safe, but I guess like all things of this nature, to remove the element of doubt if it doesn't need to be done that minute, you may as well wait until the second trimester. But really, I'm sure it's fine.
