Has anyone had one of the NEW *HD* 3D/4D ultrasounds?

Not the regular 3D/4D ones that have been around for years. I've had those with previous pregnancies and know how they go. But the NEW HD 3D/4D scans.

Planning ahead as I'm not quite 17 weeks yet, but when looking around for good places to get a vanity 3D/4D scan at around 28 weeks or so, I noticed that there has been an upgrade in technology since I last had one done a few years ago.

It seems some scan places now have "HD" scans (sometimes known as "HD Live", or "Ultrasound HD") which are better quality than the traditional 3D/4D scans. A few of the Babybond ones (think Romford, Leeds, Nottingham?) have them and I think the London Ultrasound Centre. There are probably other places too.

Anyone had one of the new HD ones? Were you impressed? Especially compared to the old style ones?

In case anyone is curious - here's a link to some images done at an American clinic with the new machines: www.baby3d4d.com/ultrasound-and-photography/?album=all&gallery=9.

The HD pictures look amazing. I had a 4d scan with DS4 last year. It was lovely but I only went because it was free so I won't be having one with DC5.

There are HD photos on babybonds facebook page for Essex which ladies have uploaded after their scans .... I think i will put mine on there then you can all see just how amazing they are and of course how gorgeous my little one is ....but seriously i highly recommend Babybond Romford !

That's incredible!

I'm still not tempted though. I'm hanging in there for the ultimate real life HD meet and greet Grin but I can see why people would - so much better than those blobby, freaky 3D pics.

Thanks for your reply! I actually went to Humpty Bumpty in Milton Keynes a few weeks ago for an HD Live scan in the end. It was really good - definitely noticeably better than a regular 3D/4D scan. The prices were good too, and the sonographer was lovely. Really glad I went!

After £170 spent on a 4D scan, We were left very disappointed! No clear images, hardly saw our babies. I have been with a family member to a 4D scan previously and I couldn't compare the service, the experience of the staff and the price.

Sorry my previous message was a review of Humpty Bumpty in Milton Keynes!

We had one done a couple of weeks ago and it was a really good experience. First time we went baby was in the wrong position so was given a free rebooking. Photos were amazing, and images really clear. Highly recommend! I'm based in SE London and went to BabyBond in Eltham.

Oooh I've never heard of this! We had a 3d scan with DS 6 years ago so I guess this is something else that hard moved with the times! I'm close to Eltham, so will check them out Miriama.

MrsWombat · 02/07/2014 06:57

Eltham doesn't have the HD one yet, looking at the babybond website, but they have a list on their website of clinics that do:

Ooh that is strange, I booked the 4D Baby bond session. I think the scan pictures and images are 4D but the photos are 3D. This is the one I had: www.ultrasound-direct.com/babybond-pregnancy-scans/simply4d-scan/ Definitely recommend!

MrsWombat · 04/07/2014 06:31

Sounds like you had the normal 3d/4d one which are still fab! I was hoping they just hadn't updated their website yet. 4d is the video, 3d is photos/stills. HD looks like the photos in my first link.

I might give them a call anyway, as their London facebook feed said that a few more clinics were being upgraded to HD soon.

We are looking forward to seeing our little one in 4d HD in about 6 weeks. We found a place in St. Albans that do them.x

I had one done in Glasgow when 27 weeks. DD now 4 months old. When she was born I recognised her from her pictures!

I went for my 4D scan today at First Sight 4D based in Leeds, they have loads of great introductory offers at they're new clinic in Leeds. I always was a little unsure about these scans but the experience is actually amazing & the photos were really good, they took they're time, very friendly & gave me really good quality photos, I have also booked my bonding scan now as it was a very good price, I just thought I should let new mums know about them xx
