Pregnancy

AIBU to think that my baby is evil?

nevergoogle · 16/10/2013 08:55

This is the only explanation I have for such prolonged sickness.

All day, every day and still puking at 14 weeks.
My previous 2 pregnancies involved sickness but not to this extent and while both have 'evil' tendencies largely around the ages of 2-3, they are in the most part are fine now.

It's evil isn't it?

Can the mumsnet collective perform an online exorcism?

It would be much appreciated.

*keep your eye on the colour of your urine. If its dark enough it would show ketones, indicating dehydration and the need for meds.

Cyclizine was best for me.

How about tooth-brushing? At around 12-17w in this pgy I couldn't brush my teeth without puking. Which isn't good for enamel...

nevergoogle, no advice, just massive congratulations Grin!!
I didn't know you were with child.

Hope it improves soon.

And yes, do speak to your MW/GP whoever you think might be most receptive. Get some proper meds.
I am loving the 'try ginger biscuits btw Grin

Yes Horry is right, think about your teeth enamel too.
If the ginger biscuits dont erode the enamel, the puking will!

Thanks Pacific.

I'm thinking I might not ever brush my teeth again.I inevitably spend the next 20 minutes hurling into the sink with my legs going weak.

This morning I was like a fucking machine, puke, told DH to fuck off, wobbly legs, a minute sitting on the side of the bed, then dressed and out of the house and off to work to see my first patient at 8am. I look like crap, but am dragging myself through the day. Thankfully DH is doing all cooking and childcare, and i can rest for the evening ready for the next day.

I did manage to eat a plum this afternoon. That was an achievement!

Plums are Full of Goodness Grin.

Get thee to a person with prescribing powers. It sounds grim what you're going through.

It was worse at week 10, now heading for week 15 it is improved, just not gone. Am holding out for continued improvement.

I can prescribe zimmer frames. Hmm

Well, at least you can remain mobile whilst your legs are shaky Wink.

Sorry, that's not funny. Really hope it'll get better soon, with or without meds x.

there might be an old leg brace in the back of the cupboard, i could use that.

Cherrylips, i suspect your baby might be evil too.

NG, yes, I am starting to believe she is.

I hope your inner Damien gives up the evil act soon. I am on a mission to evict mine ASAP.

Finally went to GP this morning after spending yesterday evening throwing up and keeping nothing down since lunchtime yesterday. Am losing weight but otherwise healthy.

Have been prescribed Avomine to trial tonight.

Mine was affectionately known as Evil Little Bastard until the medication kicked in and I could sort-of cope again. Sickness started before 4 weeks (whyyyyyyy) and still going today at 20 weeks, on drug #3 because the first two stopped working. The evil mastermind's got some kind of mad scientist research lab in there. "Ah-ha! They're trying Stemetil now! Pass me my blueprints, Igor!"

My GP has been good, but the midwives have been fairly useless - tried to get me to stop taking the drugs, lots of "don't worry, it usually goes by 12/14/16/20 weeks" and "it's a sign of a healthy pregnancy" (thanks, I feel SO healthy) and the sodding ginger biscuit suggestions. Maybe we were supposed to dunk the ginger biscuits in holy water?

Grin

I am to trial this one over the weekend. If no good, back to the docs on monday so he can sign me off for a week while we try something else. GP was actually very good.

Glad you're getting some drugs!

Yes, other people might have had it worse but just not being hospital doesn't mean you're not suffering badly. Not being able to eat a proper meal for weeks or months on end is not 'normal mornig sickness'!

Glad to hear you have some drugs to try. Fingers crossed they will do the trick. Prochlorperazine (low dose) sorted me out but different things work for different people. I also found I was A LOT better when signed off - it worsened the day before I went back.

Loving the idea of baby as an evil genius planning counter attacks to the drugs!!

Any relief yet? I hope so.
Glad you got seen though and have not been fobbed off with ginger biscuits or other gingery produce Smile

Healthy pregnancy can fuck off too - I had ms for three weeks after mmc (ie was still throwing up when mmc was confirmed some time after baby had stopped developing) so have not been reassured by vomit since.

i don't want to speak too soon, but you know I think this anti-evil medication might actually be working.

i was supposed to wait until bedtime, but as i sat on the sofa yesterday evening clutching my trusty sick bowl, I thought fuck this I'm taking it now. i then fell asleep around 9pm and woke this morning at 6am.

I've had breakfast and even found the wherewithall to tidy the kitchen.

DH has taken the boys out along with their noise and bouncing, their slinkies (what an annoying toy) and the stopwatch that beeps every 4 minutes that we can't get to stop. so it's just me, and a very messy house on account of me being unable to do a thing for weeks and week and weeks.

not feeling sick, even if for short period is so nice.

Hula Hoops and ready Salted McCoys seemed to offer a miracle cure for me. Used to carry and open packet in my handbag everywhere I went...

Report
Thurlow · 19/10/2013 20:31

Oh yes, salted crisps. And Weetabix, and toast and jam. I think that was all I lived on for weeks.

Hope the drugs stay working for you. I noticed I had a few really good days on the drugs at first, and then started being sick again once I'd got used to them a bit, but it was far less than before so it was still manageable and an improvement.

Hey. I was sick until 16 weeks this time, and now feel completely normal (22 weeks). Much more normal than in first pregnancy when actual sickness ended at 12 weeks but I had funny taste buds until the end.

It will go!

Vomiting and sickness till 39 weeks with DS2, then just sickness till he was born a week late. He was a content, placid baby and still is at 4.
