Pain in vagina.. Advice needed

Excited2meetmyprincess · 14/10/2013 16:04

So I am 34 weeks and 4 days and for the last few days I have been getting severe pain in my vagina. It is like a stinging constant pain and then I also get shoots of sharp pain that come and go but literally stop me in my tracks they are so painful.
I know I don't have a water infection as my midwife did test on Thursday and I had these pains prior to that.
I know I should have asked midwife but she was 2 hours behind as our normal midwife didn't show up so the appointment was quite rushed and I totally forgot.
She did say the babies head is down but not engaged yet. So don't think its down to pressure from her being engaged or anything.
Has anyone else has anything like this or know what it is?? I am reluctant to ring the triage as they always say to go in no matter what the problem and then I end up being there all day!! Which I don't want whilst I'm feeling so crappy!!
Any advice would be great xx

Is it like being stabbed in the fanjo with a knitting needle? That's how my pelvic girdle pain (PGP / SPD) presents. I am 37+1 and baby is about 3/5 engaged so when he grinds his head and shoulders on my cervix/pelvis/bladder/nerves I get that stab too.

I do have SPD but wasn't aware that it can cause pain in that area! But yes u have just totally described it!! I feel like crying with it! Well I have cried on a couple of occasions.
Will just continue with the painkillers then and see how I get on. Thank u so much for your reply x

Yeah me too - I have SPD and it presents itself in a number of ways - knitting needle in the fanjo, arse cheek spasms or my personal favourite - the old "I have been kicked in the crotch" pubic bone ache Grin

Pregnancy, isn't it wonderful? Confused

Excited2meetmyprincess · 14/10/2013 18:36

Ah I didn't know it could cause all this!! I am in agony!! I was told I needed physio every two weeks to help it but since I had my first one 10 weeks ago they have only managed to for me in one more time and have said that I will have had the baby before I get another appointment! So pretty useless!!
I feel like someone has kicked me between the legs and got their heels stuck there!! I really do not like being pregnant at all!!!! X

This is where I reveal it hits harder and earlier in subsequent pregnancies... Shock

Hope you are at least feeling reassured, if no more comfortable.

I have this too, defo knitting needle in the foof is a great description and it too stops me in my tracks, the first few times I thought it was maybe me dilating and baby was coming but I just assumed it was as bump has dropped and so pressure from that?

Excited2meetmyprincess · 14/10/2013 19:40

I do feel better knowing what it is. Thank u.

Is there anything you can recommend for the constant pain? I am really struggling to walk at the moment as every time I stand up the pain in unreal and I want to cry x

Crutches and paracetamol is what i use... And endless DVDs for poor dd

Excited2meetmyprincess · 14/10/2013 23:24

My doctor said I may need crutches but because I can't get a physio appointment I can't get any! Its a nightmare.
I have ended up taking co-codamol tonight as the pain is unbearable and paracetamol isn't doing anything at all!! I tried as long as I could not to but I was just sat crying!!
Cannot wait to have my c section as I know this is the only thing going to stop this pain, the baby being born. X

If it's any consolation I am not as bad this pregnancy as I was with DD - I could barely walk even with crutches with her, and this time I only use crutches occasionally. - I think I have better core strength this time from using woven wrap slings and carrying DD on my back until 34 weeks Grin

Also last time, the majority of the SPD cleared up in 3 days after birth, and virtually gone by 4 weeks although I still had some lingering ache occasionally until it kicked in again properly with this pregnancy at 18 weeks.

HorryIsUpduffed · 15/10/2013 14:09

Ask on Facebook or Freecycle for crutches - nowadays hospitals don't want them back so people end up stuck with them.

Baths are good to relieve the discomfort in my experience. Also lots of cushions and pillows in bed.

Excited2meetmyprincess · 15/10/2013 17:41

Never thought of that. Could be worth a try!
Seeing my consultant tomorrow so going to speak to her and see if anything she can do x

Could it be a vaginal varicous vein? Sorry for tmi but I had one of these and they can be very painful.

Excited2meetmyprincess · 15/10/2013 20:53

I don't know what they are like or what to look for? What would it feel / look like? X

Well. I have had probs with veins before inc dvt. But this pregnancy the varicous veins have been more visable.
Basically I went in a few weeks ago as I felt a fewbulgedown there and was worried something had prolapsed. They checked me out and said it was a vein. They told me it would get worse before delivery but better after the birth. Luckily mine hasn't hurt but the midwives did saythey could get very painful.

Basically its like piles but in the other exit!:-(
