Anyone know of Mr Sawdy in Poole or Mr Taylor in Bournemouth? I'm moving from the States to the Bournemouth area in a few weeks and my US consultant wants me to see someone in the UK straightaway. I'll only be 8 weeks pregnant when I arrive. I'm British with private health insurance. Still not sure what that gets me at home!

Know My Sawdy by reputation - I think another mumsnetter had his help. He is apparently very nice. I saw Mr Pampiglione who is an Ob/Gyn who practices both NHS and privately. He is responsible for the conception of my dd, 2 friends sets of twins and one friends dd. His reputation is generally good.

I'm nearly 8 wks pg and live in Bournemouth. Keep in touch!

know Mr Sawdy!

KitsKat · 01/07/2006 00:24

Congrats bunny3! I called Mr Pampiglione's secretary and she told me he only practices NHS? BTW where's a nice area for a family to live in Bournemouth - I move there next month but haven't found anywhere to live yet!

Bunny !!!!!! Congratulations KitsKat, do you want to be actually in Bournemouth or would you prefer somewhere outside a bit ? What are you looking for in the area you live in ? I'm just outside Wimborne which really suits me as it's close enough to get into Bournemouth etc but takes about 1 min to hit gorgeous countryside, there are acres of woodland to wander around in just round the corner and I really like Wimborne.

As I said on your other thread, I saw Mr Sawdy for my private scan. He is incredibly approachable and very thorough I felt. Both myself, DH & DD really liked him. He was very good with DD who was a bit nervous about seeing her new brother/sister on a screen. He was late for the appointment a bit as he had to attend an emergency but that actually reassured me that if there was a problem he would be there if you see what I mean !

Buy my house KitsKat, we are moving back to Somerset , it will be on the market shortly

CarolinaMoose · 01/07/2006 16:18

Delgirl, I hope Mr P isn't reading this thread - it could be Ginagate all over again

DelGirl · 01/07/2006 19:29

Are you really moving Kittypickle after all that work, you can't.

WRT ob/gyn kitskat, I saw Mr Pampiglione several times and so did a friend. If you want to chat further you can CAT me if you like .

Kittypickle · 01/07/2006 20:00

We are going Delgirl, estate agents round on Wednesday for valuations then either straight onto the market or more likely we will wait until September as the upstairs needs a little bit of sorting ideally first.DS starts school in 2 years and DD goes up to middle school, so we have a 2 year window to fit it into. Sorry to hijack your thread KK and Dorset is honestly a lovely place to live. We are just off as want to be closer to the rest of the family and friends and have worked out we should be able to get something with a bit of land if we are very lucky, back where we used to live.

Kitskat, why do you need an obstetrician? Can't you just register with a gp and then see midwives?

KitsKat · 02/07/2006 02:46

I see my ob every week here (in the States) as I'm considered high risk (IVF, thrombophilia, 38). I'll only be 8 weeks pregnant when I arrive in the UK and my ob here is concerned that I see a consultant as soon as I arrive in to follow up my protocol. I wasn't sure how the system worked in the UK (which is why I turned to Mumsnet!) but I was concerned it might take a while to find GP, midwife, get referred to consultant etc

you could find a gp on this site .

Not sure how easy it is to register over the phone, but hopefully they'd be able to take you on and arrange the referrals ready for when you get here if you want to do it on the NHS.

I'm surprised Mr P doesnt do private anymore, he did 2 years ago. I saw him at the Nuffield. He did Tuesdays on a private basis and NHS the rest of the week. Glad KP has seen Mr Sawdy and rates him highly.

KP, good luck with the move and do keep in touch.

Kitskat, I dont know what your budget is or if you want to be by the coast or in Bournemouth itself but if you give us some indicators of what you are looking for we can definately make a few suggestions wrt somewhere to live.
