Back to back baby

Hi all

Does anyone have any tips for turning a back to back baby? Am 38+1 weeks and baby is now only 2/5 palpable so pretty low down- not sure if it is still possible for the baby to turn with the head that far into the pelvis?? NCT says 2/5 palpable counts as fully engaged!

Midwife suggested leaning forward on birthing ball- any other tips? Has this actually worked for anyone or should I just resign myself to a long, painful labour Sad

Some fab tips there OP and positive stories! My baby was back to back but nobody picked up on it until I was fully dilated. I couldn't push her out in the end and had to have EMCS (lots of other reasons too which I had no control over such as meconium in my waters). But it is so heartening to read that many back to back labours end in normal delivery Smile

DD1 was back to back. About 40 hours labour in total. Ended up with an epidural and keillands forceps to turn her. The episiotomy healed much better than the natural tear I had with DD2's very quick birth. Both DDs are fine.

Both my DCs were delivered back to back. DC1 was a long, painful labour and so when I realised that DC2 was settling back to back, I tried EVERYTHING to turn her. Nothing worked and she delivered back to back and with an arm up, like supergirl! However it was very quick and manageable, nothing like the slog of DC1.

Am now pregnant with DC3 and have been told that the cause for the back to back births is most likely the shape of my abdomen and so this one will probably be back to back too. Not worried - don't know any other way! Rest assured it is entirely possible to deliver back to back if that's what happens in the end.

DS was back to back and this was only realised when his little face appeared. I was in water, which helped I think, and my labour was very fast - 3 hours from first pain to birth - he would probably have been born on the side of the road had he been right way up, he'd have shot out! It was quite painful, but manageable with the water and gas and air. Painwise though it wasn't too different from DD (who was DC1) - she was induced and it was all very rapid - I put some of the pain down to the intensity of the speed. Very best of luck to you, it will be fine :)
