Hello, i am 8 weeks pregnant and have developed an aversion to protein. I normally love chicken, fish but now just the thought and texture makes me sick. Has anyone else expereinced this? I am worried as i read that protein is very important throughout pregnancy and while i try to have almonds, cheese etc, i suspect it's not enoughh :( any thoughts or advice would be grately appreciated, thanks!

I'm generally off food altogether, no desire for any particular thing. However, I'm very lucky that I'm rarely sick, once I knew that I could eat and keep it down I've cracked on and eaten small meals. I used to love baked salmon but can't face it now. One thing I can stomach is breaded chicken, not very healthy but still getting protein. And also I find if the meat is in soup I'll eat it.

Hope you find something you like to eat soon, I know how rubbish it feels!

yes I went off meat when I was pregnant both times. I'm usually a real steak head too.

Total carnivore here! I was veggie for around twenty weeks of my first pregnancy, and it took ages to get back to normal!

Same here, though I'm not a fan of meat anyway. I ate a lot of lentil dhals whilst I was pregnant.

Crumpets for the first few weeks here. With butter. Knew I was turning a corner when I could have an additional topping!

Still eating lots of veggie sausages etc over meaty & DD is 20 weeks old!

Don't worry, your body will take what it needs for the baby & then you.

You've plenty of time to catch up & you will feel better Smile

Congratulations btw Thanks

Hi Op I suffered from HG and had severe food aversion. At one point I only ate bread sticks and had a bit of water. I lost a stone in the first three months and ended up in hospital on a drip. My HG was extreme. The reason for my post is to let you know that even though I was so ill, our Dd is fine. I am 28 weeks and my HG doesn't seem to have affected her development so far. My consultant at the time told me that baby's are a little like parasites not a good word bt they basically will take whatever they need from mum. The only person that suffers fom severe sickness or HG is the mum.
