Is it ok to sleep with a hot water bottle when pregnant?

I'm probably being a bit silly. I'm 37 weeks pregnant with mild spd and bad back. I've started going to bed with a hot waterbottle resting against my back and it's really helping.

Obviously I've started worrying that this could somehow harm the baby (I feel stupid just typing that). Can anyone reassure me that I am being paranoid and make me stop worrying.

I've been doing it my whole pregnancy (whole life Wink ) so I hope so!

I think ON the tummy is not good but I sure as hell hope the back isn't a problem.

I've been doing it for months, it's the only thing that makes my back stop screaming.

I've mentioned it to two midwives and two doctors and none of them have said anything. :)

Keep it away from the tummy and you wilk be fine.

32+5 with awful pelvic pain and back ache, I don't honestly know what I'd do without a hot water bottle, glad I didn't have this problem in summer!! I was worried about the heat affecting the little guy but I was told I'd feel him become uncomfortable and move around a lot if it bothered him, so i tend not to worry about it now provided he feels like he's doing okay Smile.

If you're too worried you could try a heated under blanket...we have one with duel controls so DH doesn't have to be too hot, you can buy them at tesco at a good price too, I found in the early 20s weeks the subtle heat helped but I don't think it does much for your back if you sleep mostly on your side, which I now do Hmm.
