Headaches

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and have a near constant headache. I'm making sure I'm drinking plenty of liquid and eating properly. With my DD I remember having headaches but not as bad as this. Do you think it's anything to worry about, or just another symptom? Don't have midwife for another 2 weeks.

TIA Smile

How much are you drinking? I suffered really badly with near-daily headaches from 12 weeks. Rang my midwife and she said to have at least 2 litres of water per day, preferably more, as your body is increasing your blood volume so you need a lot more water than usual. I've found that 2.5-3l per day and I don't get any headaches any more.

Drinking nowhere near that amount. Will try drinking more and see if that helps. Thanks for your reply!

Drink a bit more and call your midwife in the morning. Headaches can be caused by a few things in pregnancy, dehydration, hormone levels and high blood pressure, so it's best to bother the midwife for 5 mins and get yourself checked. Congrats on your pregnancy btw.

I'm 10 weeks and I've had a throbbing headache all week, I told the midwife yesterday and she said my blood pressure is ok and its probably a change in my hormones. If your constipated it can also give you bad headaches I think xx

Thanks everyone. Called midwife and going in tomorrow to get checked - bp etc. hopefully it's nothing!

A bath in this daily or every other day makes a huge difference for me - I suspect it's the magnesium www.boots.com/en/Dead-Sea-Genuine-Bath-Salts-1000g_7635/

How did you get on being checked?

I spent a good few hours the week before last being checked over for suspected pre-eclampsia as I was having flashing lights and awful throbbing headaches (I was 33 weeks then).

Anyway they decided it was my first ever migraine, probably caused by hormones and being ready to finish work etc, but I remembered I had the same awful headaches (without the lights) around 16 weeks as well and read that its a common time for them.
