When did your palpitations start?

Hello all, I didn't know that palpitations were a normal part of pregnancy until I have seen it mentioned on these forums.

I'm currently 15+3 and as of 3-4 days ago the funny fluttering sensations started. Sometimes I feel them in my chest and sometimes I feel them in my neck. They are fleeting and last only seconds and only occur once or twice a day.

Does this sound pretty normal?
Is it anything the GP or Midwife need to be made aware of? Is it something they would be concerned about?

Very normal. I'm 17 weeks and I get them several times a day. I've had them since early First Tri. Also had them with my DD. I've heard its because your heart has to work that little bit harder due to extra blood flow.
As long as they are not causing any problems for you, I wouldn't worry.

Aha - so it is normal! I've been having odd flutterings here and there and in that usual pregnant-and-paranoid state decided that I must have an undiagnosed heart defect ... didn't have anything like it with my first pregnancy but perhaps it's because I am older and far more tired this time?!

I'm 21 weeks and have had these for the past few weeks - I guess they start when your body starts to feel the strain a bit

OH wow, I didn't know this was a thing. I've been having what feel like heart skips for a number of weeks now (currently 20). I used to get them maybe once a week, now it's once a day or more.

I had a heart condition prior to pregnancy you see (no real diagnosis) so was anxious as to whether the palpitations were because of my heart issue or because they are a normal part of pregnancy.

I have a monitor at home in order to check my blood pressure and pulse twice a day (I was previously on medication to address issues I had but I discontinued it because I wanted a baby) and thankfully those readings are well within normal limits.

Why does everything have to be such a worry? Smile
