Ok,i know this subject has been covered in some way or other but just feel like i need reassurance if nothing else by posting.

Im 18 weeks this week with dc3. I started to get the odd movement from around 14 weeks but was very slight and intermittent. Then i got a few stronger more obvious and consistent movements last werk, but as from three days ago ive felt nothing. I had a 16 week scan when all was well and was also told i had anterior placenta.
Up to now ive been blaming the anterior placenta for lack of movemrnt (although i know this sounds daft maybe as ive already felt it even with this).

I had a mega busy and stressful 12 hour shift in work yesterday so i didnt expect to feel much while on the go. Friday i just thought baby had hidden somewhere awkard. Today though ive sat down mostly all day and still not feeling the baby so im starting to worry.

Anyon else find this happened for few days after they had been feeling movement and everything be ok?

I have heard of suggestions to drink a glass of cold orange juice and lie down for a while- something about th sugar making the baby move.
Really though the only thing that will put your mind at rest is to get it checked out at the hospital. Hope all is ok.

If the baby is kicking inwards is very hard to feel, even at thirty plus weeks.
Agree with getting a check up though. Nothing as reassuring as hearing that heartbeat.

Hi Op

I have an anterior placenta and I didn't start feeling any movement till about 19 weeks. Even then they were irregular and they only become strong and more consistancy at bout 25 / 26 weeks.

If you are worried speak to your MW.

I'm 21 weeks with first child and also have an anterior placenta. Some days I can barely feel the kicks at all, pretty sure it's only the really big kicks I feel. It's a bit worrying but hopefully we will feel more soon.

LittlePeaPod · 06/10/2013 20:03

You will Pink. I am 27 weeks and they have only recently (last two weeks) really started getting strong. Grin

I had an anterior placenta with ds and didn't feel anything until 21wks (I remember I hadn't felt him kick yet by the 20wk scan). Even then, it definitely took a few more weeks to become regular. I think it's around 27wks they start getting concerned about changes in kick/movement patterns?

As with all things though, talk to your mw if you're concerned. I'm 13wks pg with dc2 now and could have sworn I've felt some flutterings already!

I had this too. I felt DC2 really early on and fully expected the same for this pregnancy with DC3. When I had my 20 week scan, the consultant said the placenta was at the front. When I asked if that's why I hadn't really felt the baby this time round she politely said something to the effect of, "yes, along with the fact that everything is a bit looser given that it's your third." !! Although I'm slim, I guess she has a point as my stomach muscles are definitely not what they used to be.

I didn't really start to feel proper movements until about 22 weeks but now at 26 weeks they are very noticeable. If you are worried, definitely get it checked but it could be something similar for you.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Still nothing today so i think i might go to one of the midwife drop in sessions if nothing else to put my mind at rest.

Finally the little one has started with the jigging again but much higher up! Thinking my womb must have shifted upwards. Such a relief as there were no local drop in mw clinics till today but now i dont need to bother :-).
