After some opinions/advice as can't seem to find any info on this. We've bought sleep bags but I'm aware that babies can't use these under certain weights. I'm not keen on swaddling so was wondering if I need just cellular blankets for the moses basket or flat sheets too and how many I will need. Mind boggling!!

You'll need sheets for the mattress, or normal pillow cases seem to fit beautifully. I'm going to get about 5 in case of accidents and getting behind on the washing.
Then light blankets that can be layered, so thin fleece and cellular ones are fine (just mind baby's fingers if it is a loose knit). If you keep the house pretty warm through the winter I don't think you'll need too many.
No duvets or quilts, they're too heavy and hot.

We just used one or two cellular blankets (depending on temperature) tucked into Moses basket mattress. We have four in total so we can wash two while using the other two. Just moved onto sleeping bags now at six weeks. Haven't bothered with sheets so far and baby doesn't seem concerned!

Just working this out with our 6day old. We are using pillow cases as sheets--fit perfectly. Then we are very loosely swaddling with either a large muslin or thicker cotton blanket. Wrapped up they become more than one layer so using thinner material. He was swaddled in the hospital too and he likes it best, but it's really loose so he can have his arms out and legs up froggy style. We found we were making him too warm so I'd recommend having options other than just cellular blankets.

I've got a 5 week old and I just use large muslin clothes for sheets. As workingtitle said, you can use them to swaddle too.

I also use them as a cover at night and when feeding, as a breastfeeding cover when I'm out or when he's in his rocker or car seat, then add a thicker wool blanket on top if needed.

They are incredibly versatile and easy to wash and quick to dry. I'd bought sheets for the moses basket and bednest but not used any. So save your money and instead get a load of large muslins.

My five week old is into his sleeping bag and much happier.
We started with cellular blankets and still use them in the pram but he kicked them off in the night and hated swaddling (he's windy and needs to be able to kick his legs to work the wind or a poo through).

Meant to say, when we discussed swaddling with the MWs at hospital, they said no problem as long as you don't tuck the blanket in much/at all so the baby has free range of movement. Our slightly premature and tiny baby loves bein swaddled, some babies just do, some hate it.
