I'm 23 weeks and was wondering if anyone could recommend any good babycare books for a novice mum-to-be.

There's no babies in the family and I really don't have a huge amount of experience with very young children so think I'd benefit from a bit swotting up.

I was recommended these on here:
The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding
Your Baby Week by Week

Baby not here yet (33w) but so far they do seem to contain very good and practical advice, without being too pushy on a certain way of doing things.

For my pregnancy I bought What to Expect when You're Expecting and I've found that very useful -lots and lots of info. However there's also a load of information on Mumsnet Wink

I recommend 'The Food of Love' by Kate Evans. It's focussed on breastfeeding, but very light hearted, and not remotely preachy or judgy. Covers other parenting things too. A big message is 'don't expect your baby to be like the babies in the baby books', which in itself is quite reassuring (and something i second, 2.5 years after my dd was born!)

I'm reading First time parent by Lucy Atkins. So far so good!

I second the First Time parent by Lucy Atkins. I found it vv useful and have given it as a present to a couple of friends who've also liked it.
Has a good section on the first few days after you come out of hospital which I found good.

Try your local library thoug as you may be able to try a few and see which one you like the best?
