Can a baby move TOO much??

prob a stupid question but I am 30 weeks with no.2 and the baby seems to be kicking and moving constantly. I actually feel bruised inside. I don't remember DS moving this much.
Have I just forgotten what it's like, or is it because it's my 2nd, or is it something to be concerned about?

Both DSs did this to me - DS2 more though. I used to feel sick he kicked me so much. Was like motion sickness. V weird.

I am 30 weeks with my first baby and he moves like that. I have actually worried as well that he moves TOO much! haha I think it is fine though. When he goes quiet (like now) I worry a lot.

dd moved loads while I carried her..I now know why...she doesn't sit still now and is a very active 1 year old..!!! People always comment " how do you keep up with her" LOL she isn't even walking yet!!

I wouldn't be worried. I think what you eat and drink can have an impact ie coke or chocolate.? Nothing serious but just gets 'em giddy..!

My baby moves constantly now at nearly 39 weeks and has been like this for as long as I remember. Even since it's head has been engaged and you would think that the movements would be more restricted, it still moves a lot!! I mentioned it to the MW and she said they would be more worried if the baby wasn't moving very much and that so long as the baby's heart rate is within the normal limits that there is nothing to worry about. She said if the baby was in distress the heart rate would be raised and they would perhaps investigate further - they did however document at my last apt. that my baby was very active as it was jiggling all over the place while they were doing the heart rate and measurements etc..

my ds was like that and age 6 doesnt stop from the morning till he finaly falls asleep and was a very active baby from the word go , they were amazed as at 10 days old he could roll over!!this was witnessed by a midwife !!and after that there was no stopping him..

Wow, read with interest as I'm only 22 weeks and have, on occasions, wondered if mine is moving too much!! Concerned to read about what it might mean when born.....

mabel1973 · 26/06/2006 18:50

I had the heartbeat checked last week and the MW semed happy enough. If this one is more active than DS, God help me.....

I'm 35 weeks with my first, and sometimes the amount of movement gets really uncomfortable, some bits of my belly feel tender sometimes from all the poking and prodding. Have been wondering what this means for after the birth - am I going to have a really active baby! I'm hoping I'll be a bit more comfortable once I've finished work and don't have to sit around in meetings trying to keep a straight face

I looked back last night at my diary from when expecting dd..the day before dd was born I wrote that she'd been moving loads and that I was sure I would "go over" my dates. I commented that I was sure the nearer to the due date the quieter they became..LOL dd was born 14 hours later..! .

Like I said before..she is now like a bag of wind..!!

Mabel, my dd was very active in the womb; at one stage I had to be monitored for 2 weeks with one of those strap things round the bump - she moved so much the midwives used to actually gather round me to get a better look. She used to constantly scramble around and poke her limbs out the whole time. It did make me sore at times, and also tired because she was often at her most active when I was trying to get some sleep. She would also react strongly to music and various loud sounds.

She is now 5 and a complete fidget!!

ds had me doubled up in pain regularly with a well aimed kick. I think it's a thing with second and subsequemt pregnancies - they just have that bit more room in there....
