Its probably just had a sleepy day... but worth phoning the mw anyway. They'll probably get you in for a check up. Its worth it to ease your worrying too.

pootlepod · 25/06/2006 22:09

Have you tried having a glass of ice cold water and laying down for half an hour? Or a bath?

dressedupnowheretogo · 25/06/2006 22:10

ive had a warmish bath and have been drinking cold pure orange juice

Trust your instincts, if you are worried call your midwife's out of hours number, if only so they can reassure you

Hope all is OK

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 25/06/2006 22:11

Ring someone- they'll monitor you, the bump will lepa all over the place, you'll feel a bit daft, but they'll tell you not to worry and to always get it checked out (happened to me in the first 2 pregnancies). Ring the number you have now, they'll monitor you now, much better safe than sorry (my friend had this- her baby was delivered at 26 weeks- cord had a knot in it- he is now a healthy happy 7 year old, if she hadn't gone in he wouldn't have survived). Always get it checked out.

melrose · 25/06/2006 22:12

Yes call the emergency one, there is always at least one of the team on call and it is what they are there for!

fattiemumma · 25/06/2006 22:12

as your baby is growing it has less room to move about. its quite normal for the moving to slow down as you get nearer to your due date.

if your still worried then call your midwife. at the every least she can do a fetal heart monitor and put your mind at ease.

melsy · 25/06/2006 22:13

aww booby hun , ok

try :

eating ice
massaging area , pressing in gently
warm bath (my one goes loopy in the warm water)
eat something very sweet

other than that Im not sure what else you can do.

If still no movement call a midwife , do you have any midwives mobile numbers ? If not phone your hospitals delivery suite , as ante natal dept will be closed. They may say to some in for monitering.

I may go to bed soon , but will be thinking of you hun xx

Ellbell · 25/06/2006 22:14

Ring, boobylicious. All will be fine, I'm sure, but they won't mind, and it will reassure you. I had a lot of problems with bleeding in my first pregnancy. Had what I thought was slight spotting with dd2 at about 27 weeks (as in ... so slight you'd have needed a microscope to see it ) and was in like a shot. No-one minded at all, they just monitored me for a bit and reassured me... Try not to worry, baby will probably keep you awake all night kicking like mad now, but it's worth getting the reassurance.

melsy · 25/06/2006 22:15

Sorry for repeating , takes me a while to type.

coggy · 25/06/2006 22:15

I don't want to worry you but my baby stopped moving on his due date and he also had a knot in his cord.
If you are even vaguely worried - phone them.

It is too important not to follow your instincts.

mears · 25/06/2006 22:15

boobylicious - have you lain down and concentrated on the movements? Best to lie on your left side. Also give your bump a good old prod. Sometimes you can be so busy doing things that you don't notice the movement. If you have done all that and there is no movement, call your maternity unit. You should have been given the number. Definitely best to get it checked out if you have noticed a bi g change.

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 25/06/2006 22:16

Have you phoned yet- honestly in my 1st 2 pregnancies I went in with exactly this and with my third with high blood pressure (turned out to be stress- brought down with a cup of tea and time out!) IN every case the midwives were lovely and reassured me that I'd done exactly the right thing. Even the first time when ds1 started kicking as soon as they got the monitor out and spent the whole monitoring session kicking like mad making me look like a right idiot.

dressedupnowheretogo · 25/06/2006 22:24

im off to hospital will fill you in

Hope you get a good kicking hun ! xxxxx

hugeheadofhair · 25/06/2006 22:29

When the baby starts descending you might feel it less of differently than before. But being only 31 weeks it probably still has space to pop back up again. I hope you'll feel it happily kicking soon - probably just after you've made the appointment for the scan

WellKnownMemorablePeachyClair · 25/06/2006 22:31

Call the emergency MW, I got a proper telling off for not calling and waiting until MW visited me next day. There wasn't anything worng, but as she rightly said- what if there had been, and that time dealy was the crucial factor?

Sorry id TMI but that could just be the waay it is.

All my fingers and toes crossed for you X

pucca · 25/06/2006 23:06

Toothache is right, the baby is prob just having a sleepy day. I am 32 weeks and my LO has done this to me a couple of times, i think they like to worry you from the beginning lol.

I must admit that a cold drink and bath didn't work for me, it was exactly what mears said...lying on my side that got the little monkey moving.

Thinking of you boobylicious and the baby will definately start doing somersaults as soon as that monitor goes on your tummy.

xxxx
