Extreme movement 36 weeks

Just wondered what sort of movements people were getting from their bumps around this time.

Far from slowing down, my baby's movements are getting increasingly vicious with random limbs poking out about an inch at times from the centre of my abdomen.

She's been highly active all the way through but I guess where she's getting bigger and stronger, it's starting to really hurt and has brought tears to my eyes/ is making me feel a bit nauseous.

Anyone else dealt with this? not sure how to cope with this for another month...!

I had a stage like this, where she was bigger, so stronger, but still had some room to move around and lash out. I'm now 37+5 and I think she's run out of room as her movements are more squirmy now! Still painful in the ribs and down below at times though!

Yes me!!! I'm 40+3 now and my wee man is very active indeed!! And yes it's getting pretty sore down there and I can barely walk now with the pain... but I do find his activity very reassuring that all is well! :-)

Yup. Ds1 was extremely active throughout pg, it just became a lot more noticeable to everyone else in the latter stages when they could see it. Even the midwives were recoiling in horror whilst I was in labour, as that didn't slow him down either. He literally wrestled his way out. I had one midwife gasp in horror and ask 'is the baby always like that?!'

Erm. Yeah.

Smerlin · 25/09/2013 08:03

Ha prissy that's so funny- I can imagine mine wrestling her way out too! Is your DS1 very active 'out in the real world' as well?!

Am hoping she does run out of room but have a sneaking suspicion that her solution will be to forcibly create some!

You're right it is reassuring that the baby is well but silly though it is, I'm beginning to worry about my own muscles/organs getting damaged!!!!

Yes. My whole belly used to heave violently from side to side. DD is now five months and extremely active, even in her sleep. So I suspect this means you'll have a wriggly baby who hates to be swaddled!

prissyenglisharriviste · 25/09/2013 13:47

He is, indeed...
I was in a bit of a mess after the birth, tbh (Ds was fine, but I needed, some, ahem, repairing) but all good - nothing major - no organs involved, just superficial stuff largely caused by flailing I imagine. I did need another couple of days in hospital whereas he was ready to be discharged...

But I did have dd2 16 mos later, so it can't have been that bad. Grin

Prissy....this sounds like me! I'm 33 + 3 today and he's super active, to point of repeatedly kicking the sonographer yesterday...baby has also kicked the midwives whenever I've been monitored.

Love the squirms and kicks :) but can't wait to meet him - sooner rather than 2 weeks late please!

It is the scrabbling against my hips I find particularly hard to take. Makes me come over all peculiar.
