I am almost 23 weeks and have placenta previa , completely covering the os . Today I have felt a lot of pressure and TMI it sort of feels like something is inside my vagina (like when you use a tampon)

Do you think this is something to worry about or normal ?

Hi. I had partial pp but it had moved up at last scan two weeks ago so I am in the clear. However, before that a few weeks ago I thought I had some kind of prolapse as was feeling something bulging out of vagina down there! I went in and it turned out to be a vaginal varicous vein! Yuk ! Haven't had any pain withit though. Maybe go in and see what it is to be sure?
They won't mind. I went in to the ward and it was a guy on reception and he asked what I wanted! I stuttered that I thoughtml something was coming out if me! :-* midwife was lovely though and just examined me. Good luck.

I don't know sorry but marking place as 'diagnosed' with PP at 20 week scan today and i'm in the dark about it all (except inevitable c-sec)

I had a placenta previa, grade 3 major, but it covered the os totally. I couldn't feel anything inside at all, the placenta wouldn't hang down or anything like that. However it is a serious condition, i had 4 huge bleeds, spent 3 weeks before birth in hospital, was admitted numerous times before, got a few rides in ambulance with blue lights, and had an emergency section :( it can be dangerous for you and baby if you bleed, and if you do bleed please call 999 xx

Hi Tink, I have had Grade 4 PP twice with DD1&2 (DC 2&3). Totally covered cervix.

I also had major bleeds, lots of hospital time, but to be fair, we are the minority. I know 3 other people who had PP and went on to have elcs and no bleeds.

Heidi - do you have a consultants appointment booked? With DD1 I was just told to call the labour ward if I got any bleeding. With DD2 I was given a big list of dos and don't s
No sex
No lifting
No pushing shopping trolleys
No flying

The fact they have said PP now, does not mean here is no hope of it moving. Are they going to scan again at 34 weeks? This is normal practice as far as I know and it is usually at this stage they agree if there will need to be a section (although, with DD2 the house officer agreed at my 22 week appointment that it was highly unlikely mine would move given my history)

tinkerbell666 · 23/09/2013 21:06

Yes, i agree it is the minority that bleed and have real issues, however i feel because of this i wasn't prepared for the reality of what might happen, meaning i was shocked at the first massive bleed i had at 31 weeks, i was due a scan at 32 weeks to see where placenta was. Grade 4 pp is most unlikely to move, though i am aware it can.

and Mikkii you were brave to have another after your first pp, luckily this was baby number 5 and i'm done, but i wouldn't go through that again it was awful, and i have been warned if i were to have another its more likely to happen again :(

mikkii · 24/09/2013 22:29

Tink, after DD1 I asked if there was any chance of it happening again as we had always planned on 3 DC. I was told there was no reason for this to happen again.

With DD2 in addition to the PP, I suffered an abruption. I was very sternly warned not to have any more children! Fortunately, we were done at 3.
