I am 25 weeks with DD2 and everyone keeps commenting about the size of my bump, saying how big it is (I know I should ignore them but they are right and I agree). I wasn't a skinny whippet before but my BMI is below 30 and I have not put on tonnes of weight, apart from on my bump... I tried to measure my fundal height yesterday and got 30 cm, I realise that this could be out. My question is that if I am right and my fundal height is measuring 5 weeks ahead, what would normally happen? There is a history of large babies in the family and my DD was over 81b, she also got stuck so I am concerned that if I have a much bigger baby I am in for trouble. Should they send me for growth scans if the measurment is right? I am due to see my midwife in 2 weeks time.

Doctorbrownbear usually if you measure big/smaller by more then 2cm out they would send you for a scan if it continues i was huge with my first dd and had a scan and found out it was due to increased water levels dd was born weighing 8 pounds 5 ounces try not to worry your midwife will tell you if you need a scan hope that helps :)

Your measurement may well be out, Much more difficult to do it on yourself accurately. Even a professional measuring may not get it 100% accurate, and those charts are only rough guides really.

However if the midwife does measure you large then she may request a scan or review; or she may wait for 2 consecutive large measurements to refer for scan or review.
If your concerned maybe ask to see your midwife a week early and say you are concerned about the size of the baby?

Ah thank you for your replies. I tried to phone my midwife this morning but she is on leave and I am going away so it will have to wait until my next appointment but I wasn't sure what to expect. Lets hope it's me measuring wrong or increased water!
