Does it matter that I'm not keen on my consultant?

I met my consultant last week who will perform my elcs after previous emcs.

I know this is a bit of a non question but I think I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance.
The consultant was quite abrupt, 'in your face' with a very overwhelming personality and what seems like a huge ego - I understand why as he is very well respected. But does his personality really matter? All I ultimately care about is the safe arrival of my baby but could this make it a bad experience for me? I'm a bit scared his enormous presence will take over the whole thing and it will be all about him? I'm sure I'm worrying unnecessarily.
Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks

If you're having the baby on the NHS, you probably won't ever see him again until the birth.

My consultant didn't actually perform my elcs - he was busy so someone else did it who made very little impression on me. You'll have more of a chat with the anaesthetist if my experience is anything to go by. :)

I don't like my consultant as she is very rude and abrupt with me every time I speak to her. Mainly because I have requested a c section as she is all for natural births and doesn't tend to get involved in the birth very often. So think she thought she would convince me to try a natural birth but due to medical issues I won't change my mind.
Anyway I looked in to changing my consultant and because its on the nhs it is extremely hard and have to have so many reasons and put in actual complaints before they will change for you. But as previous poster said it may not even be that consultant that does the c section as they could be busy else where!! This is what I'm hoping for anyway. Xxx

I don't think I have ever seen the same consultant twice. This is 3rd baby and I ve been consultant led with this and the last one. In fact I don't think I very even seen the same midwife twice;-)
You should be fine! X

You probably won't see her again. Most straight forward electives are done by registrars, as is the antenatal care if you are "consultant" led. I was consultant led, hated my consultant but only saw her once, mostly saw her very amenable senior registrar. Actually the pregnancy got so worrisome i was dealt with by foetal medicine so bitch consultant was out of the picture by 30 weeks). FM consultant happened to be lovely. I had to have an early "semi elective" CS and my surgery was done by a different consultant.

I am under consultant care but saw two different doctors, but never the consultant. Got transfered to fetal medicine and he has been excellent, luck of the draw with the nhs. A friend of mine requested a different consultant which was agreed but she works at the hospital..... have someone you trust though its important.
