Sudden onset of severe nausea at 10 weeks. WTF?

Ok, so I appreciate i've been lucky to just have a few waves of nausea until now. Suddenly at 10 weeks pregnant I find myself unable to function with constant seasickness, head over a bowl type nausea.
Seems an odd pattern, shouldn't any sickness be settling down towards 12 weeks?

I started being sick at 10wks and 3 days, completely out of the blue. It lasted four days and I was constantly throwing up. Based on scan I had prior to and following the sickness the sonographer thinks it may have been the baby having a growth spurt and the sudden rush of hormones causing it.

I was absolutely fine after that bout.....until today.
I'm now 12wks and 4 days and have felt sick all day. All I have managed to eat is 2 yogurts and 2 crackers and have a few sips of squash!

i've nibbling crackers and drinking ginger cordial. have managed to eat small regular meals as they advise and no vomitting but the nausea is relentless today.

My MS started around 8-9 weeks in went on until 32 weeks Shock

Mints helped as did lying down as still as possible.

haha, not sure my patients will appreciate me lying down as still as possible for 32 weeks.

Congratulations! Grin

I had a bit of mild nausea with Ds. With dd I felt sick as a dog from 10wks to about 15.5wks. It was horrendous but I was only physically sick a few times. Worse in the evenings and I found moving about made it worse so I'd spend the evenings in the foetal position.

Maybe it's a girl? [utter cobblers emoticon]

maybe. but as my other two pregnancies were so different I'm not reading much into the nausea thing in that way.

as an aside, did you know that maternity seabands are £3 more expensive per pair that the ordinary seabands. the only difference is the maternity ones are pink.

My patients didn't appreciate it either, although I was tempted to evict a few from their beds Grin

I own grey seabands as I am obviously cheap.

nevergoogle · 18/09/2013 07:57

grey seabands here too.

my patients probably are not appreciating the fact that I'm not even going to get out of my bed today.

this is grim. am hoping it's a short term surge in hormones that will settle in a day or so, or i'll adjust to it and feel less seasick. fingers crossed.

Not surprisingly I started being sick again last night. Thankfully it is my day off today but God knows how I'm going to face work tomorrow. It is supposed to be my first day back tomorrow after 3 weeks off sick but I really can't see it happening....
