I have recently discovered I am pregnant, about 5 weeks now. Yesterday and today I have been hit with the 'bone crushing' weariness that I had somehow blocked from m mind. Last time I just lay down and slept when I could. This time I have a 22mo DD. what am I going to do!!

She still naps for an hour in the afternoon, so have I the past 2 days, but I just seem to feel worse as it is not even a full hour really. She doesn't watch tv, she is always on the go. God help me, how do I get to 13 weeks, when it eased up last time??

Nursery or can family take her for a couple of hours every day so you can rest? I can't believe she doesn't watch TV, have you tried her on pixar movies? Good luck, as you know, it will pass...

Oh and congratulations op!!

Thanks!

She goes to nursery 2 days a week when I work already, they are fully booked every other day so not an option even if we could afford it.

My family live in another country and my DH's family are 5 hours away. I do have some good local friends, but I really don't want to tell anyone until I see my gynea doctor in a couple of weeks. We and some of our local friends have had some horrible and tragic pregnancy and early births in recent years and so I want to wait until at least then.

As for the tv thing, it is terribly frustrating! My DH And I are telly addicts and we really have tried with getting her interested. She will watch something for 4 minutes maybe maximum. We have tried Disney, Pixar, cbebbies, musicals, cartoons, classics, manga! You name it she would just rather run about, read stories with us etc. I could really do with a telly child today!

Not a lot of advice but you are not alone! My 23 month old DS has a lot of energy and i'm now 21 weeks pregnant. Thankfully he loves Cars so we are actually currently watching that.

Can you try setting your DD up with quiet activities like colouring or playdoh, they still need supervising but you dont have to think too hard. And keep trying with different films & tv.

Could you speak to just one friend, or even a neighbour? Or ask nursery to let you know if they have any short notice spaces (if another child is unwell as example).

Make sure you take a multivitamen, i found this helped perk me up. And i know you are supposed to keep caffiene intake to a minimum but i have found a diet coke & chocolate bar gives that little boost of energy to get me through until DH can take over when he finishes work.

I empathise. I'm 8+5 weeks pregnant and dd is 3.4yo. I work full time as a teacher (at work at 7.20) then have marking in the evening. I'm so exhausted I feel like I don't even recognise myself at the moment.

Picklesauage · 17/09/2013 18:09

Thanks for the sympathy. I will keep trying with the tv stuff. She does like colouring but playdoh is a bit beyond her still. She has slight issues with its texture.

The diet coke and chocolate thing could have been written by me! I am doing that. I have limited to 1 a day and that is usually at about 3:30!

The 2 days I do work I am also a teacher, so no rest then either!

I keep reminding myself pregnancy is the most joyful reason to feel like crap!

You could try taking her out and doing an activity which really tires her out (swimming or a park/soft play with friends). That way she may nap for longer giving you a chance to rest as well.

And dont bother doing any housework that is not essential until you start feeling human again.
