Travel Insurance 28 - 32 weeks

I've read the recent posts about holidays etc which say you can get insurance up to 32 weeks. Which companies do this as mine will only cover up to 28 weeks and I'm going to France in weeks 30 & 31?

I'll be exactly 32 weeks on the day of the crossing home - how likely is it that (bearing in mind I'm on a ferry) anyone will realise I am actually 32 weeks and shouldn't be on by there rules?!

Thanks

Is it the ferry company's rules or just insurance though. You can travel without insurance anyway and in France you'd probably be covered in an emergency by the EHIC for basic care for you and baby, but not repatriation, accommodation, revised travel plans, etc for family. If it is the ferry company's rules then they could ask and refuse to take you. However as you can fly up to 34weeks it is unlikely you would actually be breaking any rules as such.

I had the same problem and found that I had to get a separate policy as the majority of standard travel insurance policies were the same. Eventually insured with CityBond pretty reasonable in cost.
If you do have a problem as Lizs said you will be covered I would have thought for medical as within EEC but not all the extras.

Thanks guys.

The ferry company won't carry pregnant women in week 32 or later and I'm sure they stipulate that all passengers have to have travel insurance - I'll go and check that. Technically I would still have travel insurance with my current annual policy but they won't cover anything pregnancy related.

I've got my EHIC sorted and we go to this place quite often (house in partner's family) so I'm not worried about the French health care system - from what I've seen it's better than ours!

I could come back the day before so it wouldn't be an issue but there's a group of us going and we'd all have to change our plans which seems silly for the sake of a day.

Hmmm ... maybe a large bag to hide behind and they won't notice a huge bump ... it works in soapland!!!!!!!!

I'll check out CityBond but now I think about it I guess the insurance is not the issue it's the ferry company. If you can fly at 34 weeks why have this 32 week restriction!!!!
