I bloody hope not!
my son is nine and although his movements were very strong and pronounced they were few and far between.
he was a calm and placid baby(and a bit lazy!).
at 29 weeks this one doesn't stop!
I managed to get back to sleep at 4.30 this morning after 2 and a half hours of constant wriggling, only to be woken again by it at 6.
shes still going strong now.
I think I have about two hours out of twenty four where she isn't fidgeting.
do you think she will be a fidgety, wakeful baby?

Bump

Interesting question as I've wondered the same! Mine is kicking like hell as we speak! It's lovely tho :-)

Will be interesting to see what people's responses are!

According to the pregnancy calendar on MN the baby is setting their sleep patterns at around 23 weeks.. www.mumsnet.com/pregnancy/calendar/23-weeks-pregnant

I really hope this isnt true!! I'm 23 wks now and baby is calm between mid-morning and about 1:30pm but after that its full on wriggle-tastic, including all through the night. And I mean full on - it feels like star jumps (kicking both sides of me at once lol) with jazz hands, everything! Surely she's too little to be feeling like she's trying to break out.

Bracing myself for her arrival in January, I've got a feeling it will be accompanied with a "Ta dah!"! :)

goodness... i truly hope not!! lol :)

Oh dear. DS was the calmest bump you could inagine, and was the calmest, most placid, angel type baby you could hope for. Even now at 13 he's relaxed and laid back.

This current bump however (due in 5weeks), is like a bag of eels some days! Particularly between 9 and 11pm. I think I'm in for a long winter.

When pregnant with ds he was a very wriggly baby. Was constantly moving and kicking. He is exactly like this and has been the past year. He never stops moving.

urtwistingmymelonman I'm having a little lady too - but shhh its a secret ;)

I'm having a boy and he is sooo wriggly!! Between 7 and 10 each evening it feels like he is dancing, star jumps and jazz hands, just like you Stillpukin Smile

It was lovely for so long but he has dropped down now ( I'm 39 plus 3) so it feels like he is punching my fanjo and it is a little uncomfy now.

I would say not ( in terms of patterns) because a newborn baby's sleep / wake pattern is largely driven by
The need to feed regularly ( not exclusively I know) which
an unborn baby doesn't experience. But i do think there is some similarity when it comes to how wriggly they are. My ds1 was very wriggly in utero and was quite hard to settle as a baby. Has always been active / sporty. Ds2 was a lot calmer in utero and was a very calm baby, settled himself to sleep from day 1 and is generally at lot lazier now.
