Thanks I don't really have any good advice as I'm only 29 weeks with our first but I can understand your worry, I'm really scared of the little guy being breech and having a section myself...but just think, all the waiting will finally be over tomorrow! Just one more sleep and you can cuddle your baby Smile. It doesn't take them long either, NHS says the whole thing takes about 45 mins, 15 to deliver baby and 30 to finish things up...45 mins definitely beats hours and hours of pain I suppose Grin. Congratulations and good luck for tomorrow, I hope all goes well, remember to come back and let us all know and make all of us still waiting really jealous and impatient to meet our babies too lol SmileThanks

I had a cs with dd who was breech - they discovered the breech when I was 5cm dilated! The surgery itself was fine - very calm in the operating theatre and all slightly surreal. I felt a bit like a slab of meat but by that stage all dignity had already left the building. Recovery (both immediately and later on) was fine - I took all possible painkillers and kept as mobile as possible. The worst thing was having to stay on the ward rather than going home.

The best thing was dd - she had a really easy delivery and right from the beginning has been a chilled little soul which I put down to not having a traumatic entry to the world. Although clearly at 10mo I'm not sure that theory still stands up.

I have been told that the next one could be a natural delivery but I would honestly think seriously about having another cs.

Afterwards I did spend a lot of time processing what had happened but that was more about the circumstances - at least 5 midwives had missed the breech and I was never convinced she was the right way up, and the hour or so between being told she was breech and then going into theatre was not pleasant (I had been dealing really well with the contractions up until my bubble had burst).

But the cs itself was great. Good luck!

Ds is now 3 and he was also breech. I was sacred to begin with but I knew I had to do it for him. It all went fine quick and easy. Got on my feet quickly after it better to got yourself on the go it's hard but I was focused on getting out ASAP! I just wanted my new family altogether at home.

I hope this helps and wish you all the luck! Thanks

here I am!

DS4 was ELSC due to being footling breech.

it was all good - yes a bit scary but all good.
being allowed to listen to my chosen CD in the operating theatre helped.

good luck!

I had a section for twins 3m ago. I could walk after 8-10 hours when spinal wore off and I'd had a sleep. I could fetch the babies out of their cots to feed, and managed home in 48 hours. I was sore to bend initially but managed after day 2 with just paracetamol and Brufen.
The theatre staff were lovely, and the babies cried straight away when they came out. It was a lovely experience.
BTW.... I'm not giving my own recovery times to be competitive (I hate that aspect of childbirth) but rather to let you know a section dies not have to mean you are laid up and incapable. You'll be fine xx

Good luck all the best for tomorrow. I'm 39 weeks today too and going crazy symptom spotting, ball bouncing, eating jalapenos and drinking raspberry leaf. Still dont think I'll get to meet baby for a few weeks though I just don't feel like labour is close Confused This time tomorrow you'll be having snuggles with your newborn and perhaps a Wine to celebrate Thanks

rainbowfeet · 12/09/2013 21:09

Had 3 sections & no problems with any (1st was an emergency)

My last in 2012 was actually I'd say a lovely experience. My top tip would be don't try too much too soon & your recovery will be quicker. I was asked after 12 hours if I wanted to have catheter removed & get up but I said I'd rather wait til morning & that was 24 hours since op. I wouldn't say it was painful just a little 'ouchy', I went home the following day & took it easy-ish for next few days.
Didn't lift the bath or car seat with ds in & was back doing everything as normal by day 6.. & as a lone parent I mean everything!! Grin

Good luck.

I have just had my 2nd section and it was totally fine. I was up and walking to toilet ect after 5 hours and am now on day 6 and recovery has been really good.
Lots of luck, do very exciting.

Writerwannabe83 · 12/09/2013 21:19

Just think - this time tomorrow you'll have your beautiful baby, how really, really wonderful Smile

Just focus on the end result. You will be absolutely fine.

There are some great videos on YouTube of women having C-sections which I have watched. Seeing it being done is fascinating and they actually seem to be fine. I like watching things like that though, I don't advise it if it will only make you more nervous Smile

ZingWantsCake · 12/09/2013 23:28
