Pain in my, ahem, area

Hi, I'm hoping this rings some bells for mums!
I'm 37+4 and today have developed a lovely new symptom. My minge is hurting, not really painful but definitely something. The best way I can describe it is as if I'm been kicked in the pants, or had a really hard seeing to.
The uncomfortableness is more concentrated on the area the pee comes out of rather than where the baby comes out.
I have group B strep, which I only found out yesterday from a urine test a couple/few weeks ago which I forgot to phone up and get results for - could it be this? It hasn't been on my mind much so hard to believe the symptoms suddenly arrived overnight. Could it be another UTI? I'm going to my GP for a urine dip test in the morning so this will hopefully determine if it's this.
Or could it be the baby's head beginning to drop? The discomfort goes when I'm seated and is worst when I've been sitting and try to get up (gravity?). Once I've been walking a few strides it settles down but is still definitely a bit sore/painful.
If it gets worse / I don't get something identified in the urine test I'll probably head to the MAU tomorrow, but I'm home alone tonight so was idly wondering if mumsnet has any wisdom for me and my symptoms.
Thanks for reading, and I hope your minges are all OK Grin

Hmm I had pain down there in last few weeks but I didn't think it was the wee bit mine was the baby bit

I've got this! I'm 28 weeks though. Definitely worse when sitting to standing and feels like I'm bruised down there. Had a routine urine dip test today which showed up slight protein and white blood cells but not enough to warrant concern of UTI, but I'm not so sure. Let me know how you get on!

chillisbopper · 11/09/2013 23:35

Could be pelvic pain...lots on NHS/online about it.

I don't know, I suffer from PGP and I find it hard to describe...but the pain is quite bad when getting dressed, lifting one leg to pull on jeans for example and have to sit down to do it, that's quite a common problem with PGP, are you experiencing that?? I'd say the pain is as if I'd been kicked/bruised down there Hmm

I can relate to this. I've felt like I've been kicked in the crutch for the last ten weeks or so (am 40+6). It feels part of broader ligament general discomfort. It's not too bad so I've not raised it with MW.

Rollermum · 11/09/2013 23:55

Crotch! Not crutch, lol.

SeriousStuff · 12/09/2013 01:03

Yup! 35+6 today and have had eye watering pains down there for a few days. Had to get up and walk around earlier as sitting down was worse. Had MW appointment on Tues and was told baby's head is engaged (3/5) so it's probably that...feels like head-butting or clawing. Either way, not pleasant!

sounds to me like mild spd/pgp. I had a mild version towards the very end of my first pregnancy and didn't know what it was either. then this time kicked in much earlier and worse and now I know that's what the pain the first time round was. as another poster said there's tons of advice out there to stop it getting worse (if that's what it is) good luck.

KikiShack · 12/09/2013 16:54

Thanks for all the replies, I'm reassured to hear other people have had the same feeling. Anyone who has had it more strongly has my sincere sympathy as whilst mine is mild, it is pretty annoying.
The GP said I have some leucocytes in my urine so maybe I've got a mild UTI too, lucky me! I think they might just be seeing the GBS though.
I'll look up the advice about how to stop it getting worse. I'm hoping this might involve lying in a bath reading and sipping ice cold juice, that's been my absolute favourite pasttime for the last week!

If you've mild SPD/PGP I read online (in fact on NHS no less!) that using one of those big maternity pillows at night, or just 2 usual pillows placed between your legs to raise your knees apart is supposed to help...I did this, and while it did help me sleep the next day the pain was sooo much worse, a few days later I tried again, again much worse pain....not sure what its like for other people but I wouldn't recommend trying it!!
