When did you first feel your baby flutter?

I am only 14 weeks and felt what felt like a flutter yesterday but dismissed it because I thought waaaay too early but just felt the same thing again half an hour ago and thought hmmm that was definitely real. With dc1 I can't remember feeling anything this early but as it was my first pregnancy maybe I wasn't as aware...?
So just wondering when you first started feeling kicks or flutters? Smile

I'm pregnant with no3 and I too felt the glitters for the 1st time at 14 weeks so not unheard of! I think with each pregnancy you feel things earlier.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 11/09/2013 16:15

Flutters not glitters!

Rockchick1984 · 11/09/2013 16:18

DC1 - 17 weeks. DC2 - 13 weeks. I didn't think it was possible, but asked the midwife and she said it can happen that early. Partially because you know what to expect, and partially because everything has happened before, a bit like muscle memory!

omri · 11/09/2013 16:22

Hiya rock chick! Ooh wow so that probably was something then. That has made me so so happy even though only a tiny thing!

Breastmilk lol at glitters- feels like that too in a way little glitter sparkling away in there Grin

15 weeks... I thought it was too early to feel anything but I am now 17 + 5 and it's getting stronger so I'm not imagining it. Usually happens if I'm lying on my back on the sofa.

omri · 11/09/2013 16:53

Yes I was having "a nice sit down" both times that I felt it. Yay!

I am somebody who will shout from the rooftops about "wind" much before 14 weeks. I never believed anyone. I'd start to feel stuff 14-15 weeks, 16-17 weeks with my first.

This time out, DC#4, well Blush - not quite 12 weeks but I KNOW it is baby. It is not wind. It is little taps, that I know very well by now, exactly when I'd expect to feel them. Like during an adrenaline rush (blame Breaking Bad for that one..) or eating sweets (ahem). And usually when I have too tight trousers/pyjama bottoms on and I'm sat down. Or the carseat seatbelt. Anything that puts pressure on where baby is lying and you're bent slightly as in sitting down is enough. A full bladder seems to help a bit too I think.

I would not blame anyone if they did not believe me because until this week I would not have believed me. But there it is.

Pinkbell123 · 11/09/2013 17:22

What does it feel like? I'm nearly 18 weeks with my first and for the past couple of days I've been feeling what feel like bubbles moving and bursting. How do I know if its the baby or just my intestines?! I hope it's the baby!

FatPenguin · 11/09/2013 17:36

Pinkbell- mine feels like bubbles floating up.

CrispyFB · 11/09/2013 17:51

Bubbles or very light taps just about describes it! It isn't always easy in the beginning when they're so light to distinguish it from wind, but usually seeing if there is a cramp or, uh, a follow through is one way to tell. Especially if you've not eaten or drunk anything recently so in theory your internals should be calm.

Pinkbell123 · 11/09/2013 18:35

Ooh exciting! Then how long until you can feel from the outside?

CrispyFB · 11/09/2013 20:14

I actually honestly can't remember! DH has never been interested in doing so (I had to force him with DC1, pretty much didn't bother with the other pregnancies, but he is a very good and involved dad once they are born!) so it has only ever been me feeling baby. It's hard to tell when it's something you're feeling outside with your hand over something inside if that makes sense, as you're already feeling it!

LeaningTowerOfGaffney · 11/09/2013 20:20

Crispy I was like you, going on about how it must be wind and couldn't possibly be the baby. Till this time round when I felt baby move at 13 weeks! I was in denial for a couple of weeks but it was definitely movement.

Felt DC1 at around 18 weeks.

Peacenquiet2 · 11/09/2013 20:27

Wow omri, i could have written your post! I very neary posted somthing saying exactly tght earlier today but got side tracked. Im also 14 weeks and today thought i felt flutters (dc3). With dc1 it was 17 weeks, dc2 16 weeks, so i did think it was way to early but then it happened twice more and it got me thinking!
So i guess we are'nt imagining things and this cud in fact be our babys :-)

GreggsOnLegs · 11/09/2013 20:32

It was 8 weeks with ds2, it was definitely him, I felt it everyday getting stronger and stronger, and he was born at 36 weeks --so possibly got my edd wrong and I was further gone than that

omri · 12/09/2013 01:18

Peace n quiet - that's v funny!! I am absolutely choosing to believe we've felt out first baby flutters thanks to reading all these posts.
