I feel like all I do is harp on about being sick but I just need some more advice.

I'm 11 weeks pregnant today and the sickness started 4 days ago. Apart from yesterday I have been being sick 1-3 times over the course of the day and also having diarrhoea, carry if that's TMI. My stomach constantly feels uncomfortable. I read somewhere that no matter how nauseous we feel or how often we are being sick we should still force ourselves to eat. It gave the advice that even if we know we are just going to throw it back up again, even digesting a little something is better than nothing.

So, is that what you are all doing?

I made myself eat 2 biscuits this morning and my stomach is strongly protesting and I know how it's going to end. But part of me is thinking I should just carry on eating some more and hope the vomiting doesn't start for a while so at least some biscuit will be absorbed.

Yesterday I felt absolutely fine - I was even well enough that I was able to go out for a lovely meal with some of my friends. No sickness at all. I rang up my boss as well to tell her I'd be back at work today. I then woke up feeling like absolute shit, had a horrible episode of diarrhoea and had to phone in sick anyway.

I just don't know the best way to handle it?

Also, at what point did you visit your GP about diarrhoea/vomiting and what did they say?

The morning sickness started at about 6wks for me and I'm now 11+2. Its gradually gotten worse and now I'm throwing up at least once a day and not able to eat much at all. I feel sick almost all day long but worse in the evenings.

I defiantly try to eat even if its just a couple of crackers or a packet of ready salted crisps. I'm practically living off weetabix at the moment. I find if I get too hungry it makes it worse so its worth trying to eat small regular amounts. I've lost about 20lbs because of the sickness and the midwife isn't concerned (I've got a high bmi so I've got the weight to lose). I won't be going to the dr's about it as its just one of those things and generally I'm just trying to get on with it as best as I can.

Stay hydrated, eat when you can as low blood sugar makes it worse and just avoid the things that make you worse where you can. I find distracting myself helps too which is fairly easy to do with 2 little ones under 4 to look after! Other than that there's not much to be done except seeing the gp and getting anti sickness medication but it was my understanding that there are risks associated with some of the medications. The sickness ended around 12wks with my ds1 and around 16wks with ds2 so it does end eventually!
