Hi all, thought I'd share a tip from my midwife. I'd bought some lansinoh for after the birth but she said it can make a big difference if you start putting it on twice a day in the last month of pregnancy. anyone tried this?

I can't see how. it soothes sore nipples. of doesn't numb them or anything.

maybe she works for them as a sideline Grin

I also can't see how this would work. They'll be moisturised, sure, but what good will that do?

I have been using it after showering (pre birth) because felt dried out and flaky. I googled beforehand and people said it can prevent cracking later, but will see.

It is surprisingly hard to get out and apply though!

Rollermum warm it between your fingers before rubbing it on, and any left on your fingers after applying to your nipples is lip balm.

I didn't use till baby arrived personally.

I think the idea is that it softens nipples / conditions them thereby decreasing chances of cracking / mastitis etc.

Thanks Adagio! Hah, hadn't thought of lip balm!

AmpullaOfVater · 09/09/2013 17:13

But don't nipples need to get tougher, not softer, for bfing? At least that's what happened to mine. But worth a try if you've had problems with cracking etc before I suppose.
