Most of us I'd imagine :)

Congrats on your pregnancy.

Still got it in my third.
Welcome to the long and winding road.

Well at least iam not alone, just feels like iam wishing my life away at moment and can't enjoy my news of being pregnant. I was sick until the 13 week with my son, not this bad though...really hoping this settles like it did with my first. And really hoping it doesn't go into second and third :-0

I am 8 weeks. No reflux but my mouth tastes like it has been licking out an ashtray followed by the bottom of a rusted deep fat fryer. I am shattered despite having spent the past week lying on a sunlounger. I want to sit rocking gently in a corner and DH / DS are angry with me for being incapable of having any conversation.

I also have the sense of smell of a bloodhound. I can tell what brand of toothpaste the stranger across the road is using. Everything smells rank including my skin. I am so angry at fabric conditioner manufacturers - the smell of it on anyone's clothes makes me heave. The only smells I can tolerate are toast, fresh air and chemical handwash (which NO-ONE uses). I am trying to buy everything fragrance free but apparently this is beyond the capabilities of Unilever / P&G / the universe.

And I can't bear to brush my teeth. Or drink tea.

So feeling great all round!

Oh and I have a huge craving for wine. LOVELY wine I miss you. Sad

Yes to all three sadly. 24/7 nausea only made slightly better by eating, coupled with reflux if I eat or drink anything. So much more tired this time round too even though I am now working part-time (although looking after 3 year old on my days off!) I'm 9+2 and since I hit 6.5 weeks I've just been shattered. I tend to hit a wall about 3pm and last week didn't make it past 3.30 at work any day. I see the midwife tomorrow so am going to chat to her about it as I really don't think work will tolerate me going home sick every day but it seems so pathetic to not be able to work a full day. If I wasn't commuting I wouldn't worry but it just wouldn't be safe for me to drive if I stayed later. I just hope it all passes by 13 weeks like it did last time.

Anyway, just a long way to say I can totally sympathise and hope it passes soon for you too.

Tondelay... I just wet myself laughing at your post. I totally hear you on the extreme heightened sense of smell. My poor two yr old son has his hair washed sometimes twice a day as I can't cope with the smell, as in I vomit, if he sweats and I smell it on his hair. My other halls aftershave and smelliest have been banished to his work place. I had to throw all the carex hand gel out as the smell was making me retch. I also hold my breath when doing my teeth which takes the whole of one second as cant bear it lol. I have also been off tea and coffee Dow four weeks now...miss my tea but can't bear it at the moment. I constantly have to keep a towel with me for the excess saliva I generate which is bucket dulls...sounds gross but this is my life at the moment...and to make things worst iam in the middle of potty training my son, well say no more regarding the smell department...phew

Jammiecat. I hv same as you in all depts. my gp signed me off work for 4 weeks as cant even get out of the house most days. And balancing the nausea and reflux is he'll as feel sick if don't eat and feel sick if you do. I have had to start taking cyclizine which I have avoided up until now but I am retching if I don't . I take half at a time as still unsure of any tablets in first trimester but can't cope otherwise, see if your gp will sign u off, morning sickness ( even tho we have it 24/7) is classed under maternity sickness so shouldn't effect your sick record, hopefully you have a supportive boss..mine is a male by the way.

If the reflux is really bad, try Omeprazole from your GP - it took it away almost completely for me where nothing over the counter would touch it.

Mystic73 · 09/09/2013 10:40

Hi crispy, did you use it in the first trimester? Iam reluctant to take too much meds in first trimester even tho reflux is really bad...I can fill a towel quite quickly which sounds gross I know. Iam already taking cyclizine for really bad nausea, which I hv tried to avoid but can no longer cope without it. O
I use gaviscon advance which takes the edge of the reflux but doesn't stop it completely

Thanks for the suggestion Mystic - saw GP today who has given me a fit note for reduced hours which hopefully will help me get through this. I already have gaviscon advance from the GP which takes the edge of the reflux. Just keeping everything crossed it doesn't go on for more than a few week.
