I have a appointment at 38+2days pregnant with my midwife I really really want her to check me. I want to know if my cervix is changing at all as in the past1-2 weeks iv been feeling ALOT of very low pressure iv been losing very small amounts of plug my cm has increased. Iv been walking loads (2miles a day) bouncing on birthing ball having baths with c/oil having sex as well I'm hoping that all this "trying" is working. I really want the mw to check so I can see if I'm wasting my time or not. If I simply ask will she check??
See in a nut shell I see a consultant as baby's big for gestation and I'm going back to see consultant at 39weeks she said she will check me and if I'm "favourable" ?? She will book me in for induction.
I'm petrified of induction truly am and really want this baby out naturally b4 I get to being induced. If my "trying" is doing something or helping I will continue. I just want to know if I'm anywhere near ie is it low soft a facing? Even dilating????
Sorry for panic post I'm just after advice as very scared at the moment thank you

In all honesty, I would wait until your consultant appt, as it sounds like you're being checked then, and the more furtling that goes on down below the more you're risking introducing infection etc. Sounds like you're doing loads to prepare your cervix, so keep doing it, it's definitely not wasting time! You could have a firm, closed cervix at the check, and then it could open and thin really swiftly with all the prep you've been doi g! So, in my waffly way, I'd say don't worry- being checked by both the midwife and the consultant will really give you no insight into what your cervix will do in labour. Hope all goes well!x

I'd just wait until the consultant! My midwife wouldn't check until 41 weeks as before that she said its usually just uncomfortable for no point. Just carry on with what you're doing.
For what it's worth, induction didn't bother me and it was out of the blue in my case. I hated the pessary though, everything else was great. It was just the pessary and that was purely because I felt disgusting for the 24 hours it was in Grin I don't think induction is usually the horror story it's made out to be!
Good luck! I'd love to go through labour again.

I would ask the mw.
I had 5 sweeps from 38 weeks and no one ever suggested there was an increased risk of infection as mw do know about good hygiene.
Having said that, I wouldn't build your hopes up to her saying yes.
I would also ask your consultant about early sweeps to help with your efforts to avoid labour.
I was going to be induced or c sec if baby didn't arrive by 40 weeks due to complications and emsc with ds so they can do them.
I definitely believe they moved my cervix 'along' in the right direction and have asked for them again this time round, which consultant has agreed to.
Good luck Smile
