Tmi but I'm mid way through a 5 day course of amoxicillin and got thrush already. Haven't had it since pregnant with dd but I was plagued by it during that pregnancy. I know canestan is fine but is it ok in first trimester?

I think pessary and tablets are not recommended but i think cream is ok. Ask a pharmacist if you have to go buy some, they may be able to tell you (or tell you no & to check with your gp).

Sorry not much help really.

Have you tried a feminine intimate wash, I use one every day. Used to always get thrush but don't anymore. Here's the one I use www.femfresh.co.uk/femfresh-care-range/daily-intimate-wash

I was given a pessary by the midwife at 34 weeks. She said it's completely safe but pharmacists won't give it to you without permission. Sorry I can't help with your first trimester question though.

I had thrush in my 1st trimester and the chemist wouldn't sell me any caneston - had to get a prescription. GP prescribed a pessary and the NHS recommend not using the applicator to insert it.

In addition to the usual remedies, a bath with a couple of drops of tea tree oil works great for me. I've suffered this time (including in my mouth!) and night time is the worst. A bath before bed really helps me.
