Private Reassurance Scans North East

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for an early private scan in the North East.
I'm based in Newcastle, but happy to travel a little bit.

I've seen one in Gosforth for £99, but mentioned that on another thread and people said to have a shop around as some places do it for £60-70. Had a google and can only see scans in the £100 area.

If anyone has had good experiences anywhere that they know of which is cheaper than £99 then please let me know.

Thanks,

Hi there,

I'm on the PG after MC thread too, and I'm in your area. I tried Gosforth, but they have a minimum three week wait list, so I'm off to their other NE place in Stockton (a 1 hour drive for me). I asked on here, and shopped about, but can't find this alleged £70 place. I think that the Babybond Gosforth used to be £70, as my midwife said.

Ooh watching with interest as I MC at eleven weeks last pg and will want an early scan should I fall pg again.

Ill link if I see anywhere cheaper.

Ta. I'm off to Babybond Stockton on Sunday, so I'll post to say if the service was any good too.

Tyneside pregnancy advice in Jesmond will scan for free (and give photos) if you 'volunteer'as they use it as a training exercise. (only if you have no pain etc. as its non diagnostic) They are lovely.

That is very interesting!

Wow thanks for that info PoopPoop,

I think I'll call them tomorrow.

Thought I'd post an update if anyone else was thinking of calling.

Called this morning. They were lovely. Explained they weren't able to scan at the moment but the expected it to be temporary so I could call back in a few weeks. She said they call them volunteer scans and they really appreciate pregnant ladies going in as it helps keep their staff skills up to date.

Think I'm going to book a private scan for 8 weeks as I have my heart set on getting one then. But might call up again at some point after that to have one more.

Sounds like you're sorted, but I was going to add that EPAC at the RVI does this if you're considered high-risk or have had a recent mc - or so my GP told me. I'm not pg (but thought I'd nosy in here as I'm hoping it won't be much longer!), but my GP has promised me an early scan at around 6/7 weeks and regular contact with an obstetrician as this will be my first pg since a mc. Depends on your GP I suppose, but perhaps worth bearing in mind.

RaRaZ I think it might depend on local protocols. Saw my GP yesterday and he wasn't forthcoming with a scan. I've had 1 MC so not classed as high risk yet.

I was referred to my EPAU when I was MCing though, so I can't complain there. Think in my area unless you kick up a big fuss EPAU only used for emergency cases, which I can totally understand.
