So, midwife was listening to baby's heart on the doppler. She said it sounds like a train. Then asked ( knowing I'm a Doctor Who fan) if we'd considered any of the names of the actors as baby names.
Was this a clue as to sex?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ooh, I don't know. Possibly not as the companions play a pretty big part too.
I would have been tempted to say "not the actors really but I love Sontaran Strax as a name"

Ood Sigma?

scaevola · 04/09/2013 17:20

Probably not, as both male and female thespians are ordinarily referred to as actors.

How about Vashta?

There's an old wives tale that baby's heart rate tells you the gender, however its been utterly disproved (heart rate isn't consistent through pregnancy, tends to be higher earlier on).

ZingWantsCake · 04/09/2013 19:33

rockchick not just a tale, but not exact science either.

I think the number is 170-180 heartbeat per minute and if it is consistently higher baby is likely to be a girl, if lower a boy.

our midwife had another patient and myself at the same time - we were both pg with baby number 6.
we had 5 boys, the other mum 5 girls.
based on the hearbeat thing she predicted a boy for her and a girl for us - correctly! Grin

Zing see here there's been studies done which disprove it as a gender prediction - anyone guessing any baby's gender has 50% chance of getting it right, anecdotes don't disprove science unfortunately :)

rockchick

I'll read it later. thanks
