I'm 21+4 and a few weeks ago started to feel baby move. It was such a nice feeling and then over time it has got more frequent, the weekend it went crazy, just like it was having a party inside me.
However since mon it has stayed pretty quiet, even at night when it seems to come alive its not as active, a flutter here and there but no definate kicks, is this normal or should I get it checked??
God, I worried until I reached twelve weeks, now I'm worrying its not moving enough..does the worry ever end!!

Go and get it checked out. It's probably absolutely fine, but you should always get slower movements checked out at the hospital. They will never turn you away, they will always want to out you on the trace and give you a quick ultrasound. I went and got checked 3 times during pregnancy for slower movements.

I agree with Zara it's best to get checked out. Most likely everything is fine and baby has just changed position or something but it's better to get checked and put your mind at ease x

Get it checked out but try not to panic I had that happen, the hospital told me babies dont tend to develop a pattern until around 32 weeks and often have lazy days but I got told if ever unsure go to mat assessment clinic anytime x

You are still quite early on and baby still has a lot of room to hide, but no-one will judge you for getting it checked out.

My baby has a good few days of being really active, then one day goes quieter.. I've been checked but it has seemed to become his pattern now and I'm 33 weeks! Hmm

PinkParsnips · 04/09/2013 11:10

Definitely get it checked out if you're worried, better for your mind to be put at rest.

I've noticed my baby has a couple of 'busy' days followed by a quiet day and that seems to be a pattern now (nearly 31 weeks) - it did freak me out at first though!

My midwife said that around 30 weeks is when they advise to start monitoring movement as there's still lots of room for baby to hide before then!

WhatWillSantaBring · 04/09/2013 11:46

I have had this over the past few weeks too. I'm 23+4 and although I felt some movements from about 19 weeks, its only in the past few days that I'm feeling movements everyday. The way I figure it, the baby is probably small enough to get in a position where it could do the macarena without touching the sides, so I'm trying not to worry. However, I'll reiterate what everyone else has said, and speak to your midwife. They're always lovely about it (and if they're not, complain!!)

midori1999 · 04/09/2013 18:54

I doubt at 21 weeks they will monitor you tbh, they don't expect a regular pattern in movement until 24/28 weeks. They won't be able to do a trace at 21 weeks. There's still lots of room for baby to move around and it's fairly normal to get sporadic movement at this stage.

If you're worried though, you can always ring and ask.

PeanutPatty · 04/09/2013 18:58

Usually the baby tends to hide at "the back" towards your spine and due to the space available at that time of gestation you won't feel movement unless s/he is at the front.

If worried see your MW. No point stressing yourself out.

Thanx everyone, its beenvery quiet all day too but this evening its back to its lively self. I didn't think they would monitor me much yet, I also have an anterior placenta which I know hides a lot of movement.
I think because baby had been so active I panicked a bit too soon xx

I got checked when I was only 18 weeks.
