Is there anything I can do!? I have had the usual (crippling) nausea since week 5 but now the heartburn has hit. I feel nauseous until I eat, and then as soon as I eat I get indigestion, horrendous burps, feeling of food sat at the bottom of my throat for hours on end, and then heartburn. I can't win - I don't eat I feel shit, I eat I feel shit. What I eat doesn't seem to make a difference. Usually jacket potatoes help but I had one yesterday and the indigestion was at its worst. And thats not to mention the extreme tiredness that I can't possibly describe. My mum is visiting today and I haven't got out of bed. DS thinks I'm boring and is obviously totally fed up with me, as is DH.

Is there anything I can do to ease the symptoms? Last pg I had heartburn from middle of 2nd trimester and that was long enough but it looks like I might be stuck with it all the way through this time. Gaviscon isn't touching it. and the smell makes me want to be sick...

Its all making me terribly depressed. I suffer from depression anyway but this feeling of helpessness is overwhelming and I get so anxious when I feel bad as I don't believe I'll ever feel normal again. I just want to sleep all day and all night and forget about the world, but obviously with a 2 yo this is not on.

anyone in the same boat?

Yes in that I have bad vomiting and nausea and a toddler to contend with. I just want to sleep all day too and when it comes to food I am damned if I do, and damned if I don't! The burps are horrendous and food just gets rejected. I have moved in with parents as I just couldn't manage toddler so that has helped.

Have you got anyone who can help with childcare? Do you know any local childminders? It would just be a short term solution and you will probably feel better in a few weeks.

Otherwise, go to the docs and ask for anti emetics? Metoclopramide speeds up the passage of food through the body which could help or they might be able to suggest an alternative to Gaviscon. I know anti emetics are not to be taken lightly but if its a case of needs must then its one option.

Good luck x

Thanks, sorry to hear you are in the same boat! I have grandparents to help with toddler which is great, but short bursts at a time and its the meal times and bedtimes I really struggle with! I am thinking of going to the GP tommorrow. Don't know anything about anti emetics. Presumably they are safe in pg?

Hi,
Check out www.pregnancysickness.org for best info on anti emetics. Some GPs are reluctant to prescribe them - but read this first. Good luck. It's a really tough time. Xx
