Exhaustion in pregnancy

I'm 18 weeks and I had really hoped the pregnancy exhaustion would be tailing off but it isn't and I'm exhausted all the time!

I'm not sleeping very well, I tend to be awake from 3am onwards.

I'm eating almost normally and taking multi vitamins with iron in so it shouldn't be anaemia.

Is it really normal to feel this exhausted! I went to work yesterday and collapsed on the sofa when I got home. I barely have the energy to talk let alone do much more. I just want to cry with tiredness.

Has anyone found something that helps with this feeling!

I feel your pain as am similarly exhausted! Am 15 weeks and expected to feel better by now. The only thing that seems to help is sleep which is always the hardest thing to come by!

DaleyBump · 03/09/2013 16:12

I know how you feel OP. 27+3 and still shattered. It got a little better for me after 14 weeks but it's just hit me again. Really struggling.

BunInMyOven93 · 03/09/2013 16:14

Same position as daley .. all i can suggest is sleep whenever possible! easier said than done i know x

I can really remember the feeling clearly! I just think everyone is completely different during pregnancy and every pregnancy is completely different. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to do things that you would usually do. You have to remember your body is very busy. Listen to your body and try to relax. I personally was exhausted with my 2nd baby ( maybe that had something to do with him be 11lb) I had to go on maternity leave far sooner than I wanted to. I vaguely remember my tiredness got better between 20 and 30 weeks so hopefully you may start to feel brighter soon.
Thanks

yup i feel the same, ive been signed off work for 2 weeks as i was so exhausted i could barely stand. .. im sleeping but im still so tired all the time. i just sleep all the time. and have no energy. im nearly 25 weeks now. i was hoping it would go but it seems to be getting worse.

hope you feel better soon x

Thanks for replying.

It's reassuring to hear that I'm not alone in suffering. I'm working from home today so I was able to have a nap which picked me up a bit. But I'm shattered again!

I'm going to try and do a bit of exercise each day, and rest when I can. I'm not normally the type of person who runs out of energy so I wonder is that's why I'm struggling so much!

I really hope this passes soon...

I am there with you Eeyore, I thought I would be bouncing with health and vitality by now but am a rag (and still getting nausea and headaches sometimes). I was awake at 3 last night too Sad.

I really really want to do some regular exercise but hardly ever manage any because I'm too knackered or feel too ill moan moan moan Grin.

Inspired by you I will try and go for a short walk this evening and see if that helps at all.

Im 30wks with dc3 and in the last 3 weeks i thought i was exhausted because i was running after 2 toddlers but it turned out after the 28week routine.blood test that i was anemic even tho i.have been taking pregnacare from the start although it only has small amount of iron in it. Anyway i have taken exrtairon.now for a week and ate loads of spinach AND STEAK and feel so much better so never know u might be anemic.

Excited2meetmyprincess · 03/09/2013 18:48

I am 28+4 and I am still exhausted all the time.
I had really hoped it would be better by now but no! If anything I think its getting worse.
I can't wait to get a full nights sleep but don't know when that will happen again lol x

I am 19 weeks and tired all the time too, I have just accepted this is the way it is going to be and have tried to organise my work and home life as efficiently as possible to help conserve what little energy I have.

easterbaby · 03/09/2013 19:20

Due in Dec - and I'm tired too! Told I had mild anaemia at 20wks (despite taking double hits of iron supplements from 8wks...) Think it's normal, so don't worry. Do some exercise you love taking part in, eat well and rest up when you need to! I sometimes have an afternoon nap (20 mins in the car if I'm at work does the job nicely) and go to bed at 8pm 2 or 3 times a week (right after my toddler has settled.)

AJH2007 · 03/09/2013 21:12

Abnormally exhausted here too - even by pregnancy standards - so started a regime of adding pumpkin seeds to everything today, plus eating Special K, nuts, dried apricots etc. I'm borderline anaemic and a bit "off" red meat so seeking iron boosting alternatives.

Rowboat · 03/09/2013 22:20

24+3 with dc2 and also currently signed off for exhaustion. It's really tough. Im finishing work around 33 weeks so hopefully that'll help but I agree its the early hours insomnia which is the killer. I have also been getting horrible headaches and my gp recommended magnesium supplements. I hadn't heard of this before but apparently we should be getting around 360mg a day whilst pregnant, but.my pregnancy multivits only provide 60mg. Its starting to help my head already and as I believe they're caused by exhaustion they might help that too?! Dunno, but maybe worth a try?

Stom91 · 03/09/2013 22:48

Had 2 blood test and im not anaemic iron level are fine! I thunks because I'm in alot of pain plus tiredness if pregnancy.. Being in pain makes me tired so it tired plus tired.. Can't wait for pregnancy to be over and Lil one to be here x
