I'm 34 weeks, and went out shopping for a few bits today. I was feeling a lot of downward pressure, but i've been told that's normal so I carried on walking around. It steadily got more and more painful, the pain radiating up from my cervix. I got to the point where I couldn't walk any more due to the pain, and had to stop. Of course we were as far from the car as possible, so after a bit of a rest I had to walk again.

I've been resting at home for a couple of hours now and I'm still in pain. Its definitely coming from my cervix. I'm not having contractions, but I can barely walk due to the cervix pain. Every time the baby moves I'm in more pain.

Baby is head down, and I've had the pressure before, but not pain like this that won't go away. Is this something i should be worrying about? Could I have bruised my cervix in some way? What should I do if anything?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm really really uncomfortable :( thanks in advance.

I agree, you should get seen.

HeffalumpTheFlump · 31/08/2013 21:22

I've phoned maternity triage and they have said because there is no bleeding or contractions that they aren't worried. I've been told to rest and phone straight back if I have any bleeding or contractions. Still a bit Confused to be honest as they didn't give an explanation.

Sorry to hear that, do you have a midwife appointment soon? Could you ask to have it brought forward to give you peace of mind?

HeffalumpTheFlump · 31/08/2013 22:54

I've got one on thursday. If I'm no better by Monday I think I will call her and see what she says. Hopefully it's just where baby's head was bashing against it while I was walking and it will get better. Its just really painful! Thanks so much for replying.

I'm 35+1 and have been struggling with the same thing. This is my 3rd so I do remember it from the other times and It's horrible!

It seems to come and go with me so some days I can walk loads but others I'm like a hobbling old woman lol.

I'm assuming It's down to position and just them trying to get themselves in the right place for coming out.

HeffalumpTheFlump · 01/09/2013 09:50

Sorry to hear you are suffering too hodgies. I've had days where I've been uncomfortable like yesterday, but I have been able to just rest. I think the pain was caused by me pushing myself to walk when it was like that.

I think you are definitely right about the position. Most of the time she is up higher with her bum in my ribs but times like yesterday she drops right down. Thanks for your reply :)

I'm 32 weeks and have had this a few times! Sometimes its just been for a moment and sometimes for a longer period of time.

I'm seeing midwife on tues so I shall ask her and report back!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 01/09/2013 23:43

I called these, "red hot knitting needle in the cervix pains"! Not looking forward to them this time around! Confused

Ls271082 · 02/09/2013 00:02

My baby is breech and I have these pains constantly mostly at night, all thru the night. No sleep now for nearly a week. Sometimes they're so bad I yelp in pain. Think people think I'm mental but it is literally like someone sticking a hot needle in me. Assumed its bubba on a nerve. I'm 37-3

LadyBigtoes · 02/09/2013 00:06

Ooh yes I had these. Do get it checked but it may just be one of those things that some people get and others don't. I remember doubling up in pain while crossing a road - my friend was v alarmed and I said "Oh it's OK, just one of those horrendous stabbing pains in the cervix". She was totally confused despite having had 2 pgs.

HeffalumpTheFlump · 02/09/2013 11:24

Sorry you lot have experienced this too! This pregnancy lark just gets more and more glamorous by the day. I have now also done something to my hip and am hobbling like an 80 year old. But to be fair, the cervix pain has died down!

Thanks for your replies.
