So, I have been on cyclizine for few day after being admitted to hospital with my sickness.

I have stopped being sick, apart from once today, but I still feel nauseous (although, not as bat as I was) but the tablets are making me so tired and groggy. I feel like a zombie, I am just not with it at all.

Antihistamines always make me tired, but right now I feel like I have been hit by a truck. I have no energy at all.

I am sat here debating what is best - feeling like this or stop taking them and go back to being sick.

I'm only 9 weeks - first pregnancy I was sick right up until I gave birth (wasn't given any meds) so I guess I am in for the long haul.

Feeling very miserable today.

It's miserable isn't it! It's probably worth going to your gp as there are lots of other anti sickness medications out there which as safe to take in pregnancy and its been a case of trial and error to find ones that work for me. I tried cyclizine, buccastem, procholorperizide/zine (? Can't remember it exactly!), metaclopomide, etc. I am now on zofran which works amazingly, but it is super expensive and so most docs will try all the others first.

It's definitely worth going to the gp or discussing it with a maternity ward doc, after all 9 months is a long time to feel bloody miserable. Just keep an eye on your ketones, you can buy some sticks from your local pharmacy and if they get to plus 3 then go to hospital. Also eat/drink what you feel you can stomach and make a list if "safe food" and "hell no it makes me vomit" food.

Hugs.

Aren't they all antihistamines though?

They have always made me fall asleep. I used to take benodryl for insomnia.

I feel so groggy and crap on these. My gP wouldn't give me anything - the hospital prescribed these, not due to see consultant again until 12 weeks.

I'm not actually booked into hospital yet as am still dithering between nhs or private care, the consultant would see me for either though, just need to decide on which hospital.

Hi, sorry to say I think it's part of the course. I didn't take anything during my first pregnancy and just stayed in bed puking for 16 weeks. This time I seem to have less tolerance for that so I am on metoclopramide which is wiping me out too. It's horrible and just a question of getting through it but I am sure you can find something that works better for you. Cyclazine did nothing for me other than wipe me out. At least the metoclopramide allows me to eat.

The tiredness and feeling dizzy got better for me about a week after starting to take cyclizine. So it might get better.

Not that I'm medically trained or anything, (so seek professional advice!!!!) but I'm sure they're not all antihistamines. Cyclizine is,but metaclopomide works by speeding up food going out of your stomach and into the intestines, meaning that if you are sick after eating then at least you'll have digested something... zofran works on the vomit centre in the brain, it's a really clever, complicated drug and the drug company charges something like £5 a tablet so the cost quickly mounts up if you are taking 3 a day for several months, hence why the nhs is reluctant to give it out... also when I was at 16 weeks they suggested a short sharp course of steroids to help with the sickness but by then I was coping better so didn't feel the need.

I'd say see how things go over the next few days, but you can always ask to see hospital consultant sooner if needed - they are probably more knowledgable of drugs that are good for sickness and safe to take in pregnancy than your gp.
