More bleeding.....

Hello everyone, I'm 10 weeks pregnant tomorrow and just after some advice or reassurance.

When I was 7+5 I had to have an emergency scan due to some bleeding I'd been having. It was only brown/old blood and thankfully the scan was fine.

However, I have just gone the toilet, pulled my underwear down and staring back at me was blood. It is still brown/old blood but there is more of it than I'd had last time - it covers about 50% of the crotch area.

I've been having a few aches and niggles over the last few days but nothing that I thought was abnormal. Obviously, there's nothing I can do about it at this time of night but I can feel myself panicking....

It felt crampy earlier but then it eased to a general ache. I'm almost tempted to ring the Private Scanning company I used previously to see if they have any slots for Monday or Tuesday. Very doubtful but Wednesday seems so far away.

Have you tried Babybond?

Writerwannabe83 · 31/08/2013 17:04

What is that?

Just to say when I had my 3 weeks of brown bleeding it often changed in quantity and appearance, sometimes it was quite dark and sometimes quite pink.

The epu also told me that the length of the bleed doesnt mean anything, as long as it doesnt turn red etc.

Sorry you are going thru this, I remember the worry of it only too well (I'm 30 weeks now by the way, so stay positive!)

Writerwannabe83 · 31/08/2013 22:17

Thanks Pink - I haven't had any more blood for a few hours, but then it seems to just creep up on me.

I just read on another thread that apparently miscarriage is quite common in women who get pregnant quickly after Mirena removal (which is what happened to me) and so my nerves are even worse Sad

writer so sorry you are going through this and I hope you get a scan soon, the worrying is torture. As others have said, after a good scan and heartbeat at (almost) 8 weeks the odds are on your side - the miscarriage association say 98% chance of a continuing pregnancy - though I know how little comfort that is when you're bleeding. Also probably scant comfort but spotting or even bleeding is quite common in early pregnancy and does not have to mean a bad outcome. It could be cervical erosion due to the hormone changes of early pregnancy, which would mean the bleeding is nowhere near the embryo. Other people - I am one - bleed off and on for weeks from a subchorionic hematoma which is like a blood blister between the sac and uterine lining, formed by a bleed as the placenta implants. Not an ideal thing to have but more often than not, they heal up on their own, but of course the blood has to either come out, or reabsorb into the body. For what it's worth I had one scary red bleed and three plus weeks of brown and black spotting with mine; it stopped at 10 weeks and though the hematoma was still visible at 12 weeks on ultrasound, the baby is still hanging in there (19 weeks now).

I hope you have someone with you and are able to rest up and take it easy until your scan. Fingers crossed for good news.

Honey, I had the same beginning of last month, I was approx 12wks. I obviously panicked and called midwife to check I wasn't going mad! She told me not to have sex but everything sounds normal, next day the same as you in my knickers. Called mw and waited for hours for a call back, didnt get one so instead went to a+e to get checked! Honestly this is what I'd advise you to do, they will have to give you a scan. Mine ended in mcHmmi pray yours is different, remember be vigilant and don't take no for an answer! Don't go into work, it's a mistake I made. Think of yours and baby's health! Sending you all the best wishes in the world xxxx

I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage lili x

I haven't had any bleeding overnight and nothing this morning either. My stomach ache has gone too. I'm going to try and stay focused on the positives x

We're due around the same time I think. On a due date board I'm on elsewhere, there's at least 2-3 ladies who have had spotting, one was even hemorrhaging (my mum had this with me at this stage too!) and each one has been just fine. The stats past 8 weeks with a decent measuring baby and heartbeat really are 2%.

Bleeding can be caused by a bunch of things, not least a sensitive cervix (did you have sex/a particularly hard poo?) or sometimes it's just a small blood clot (SCH) finally working its way out.

Personally if something scares me I go book myself into a private scan place, they are all over the place unless you're in the wilds of Scotland or the Isles of Scilly or something. However, they're not cheap (£60-£100 depending on area) and at this stage change nothing, so it's up to you if you think it is worth finding out before Wednesday.

Good luck! I am 98% sure all is fine!!

Writerwannabe83 · 01/09/2013 20:14

Thanks Crispy,

There is a Private Clinic near me which me and hubby have used before (we treated ourselves to an early scan) where they carry out reassurance scans for £50. When I booked previously they only had appointments 5 days in advance - I'm tempted to ring in the morning though and see if they've had any cancellations for tomorrow or Tuesday....
